Former prosecutor says Tawana Brawley still owes him $429,000 .....

A former prosecutor who says Tawana Brawley, now known as Tawana Gutierrez, falsely dragged his name through the mud in a defamation judgment from 1987 is looking to collect this year.

Steven Pagones, a former Dutchess County prosecutor, says Brawley still owes him $429,000, including interest, after falsely calling him a 'gang-raping, kidnapping racist.'

'In all these years, she’s never told the truth about this hoax or paid me a cent,' Pagones told the New York Post on Christmas Eve.

'Now I’m going to seek anything I’m entitled to under the law,' he said.

That could well cost Brawley, a single mom working as a nurse in Virginia, up to a couple of hundred dollars a week, according to the Post.

Twenty-five years after Brawley's claims of being raped by a gang of white men polarised New York City, the woman has been tracked down living in hiding in Virginia.

Amen. It’s despicable to ruin someones good name and then walk away from the damage. She should have been jailed.

1987. Does the Statute of Limitations apply in cases like this?

Not once a judgement has been rendered, it stands until satisfied.

Not Al. He had someone else pay his end of the defamation suit.

Am I correct in reading that one of the officers accused in this lie was found dead a week later? Just wondering if it was suicide? Really don't know how some people (Sharpton, Brawly and the other idiots involved) can live with themselves.

If Tawanna has to cough up 100’s of K for her scheme...wonder how much the Trayvon Martin parents, lawyers, Sharpton, Black KKK Panthers, and the like, will be paying to George Zimmerman.

Rev Al Sharpton: “Whoa not so fast....I gotta pay off that Zimmerman guy...”

If it took this long to find her, she probably had help “disappearing”, and whoever arranged that will probably do it again. I’m betting it’s not that hard to create a new identity if there’s people inside the system willing to help you.

His name was not mentioned at all in connection with Brawley until after he died.

A week after she faked the incident, this cop found out he had failed his state police exam, and that news came two or three days after his longtime girlfriend left him for another guy.

He killed himself, and it made the news.

When it made the news, all of a sudden Brawley "remembered" that this was one of the guys!

Then Pagones stepped forward and said that it was a disgusting lie and that he was with the now-deceased accused man the night that Brawley was "attacked."

When he said that, Sharpton and Brawley accused him of being involved as well, and it snowballed from there.

She had joined the Nation of Islam for some time after this incident, and had changed her name to Tawana X, etc.

She apparently left or was kicked out some years ago.

Different circumstances.

Since the Martins, Inc. and Sharpton and Associates found a DA who was willing to indict Zimmerman, it will be much harder to find against them in civil court.

Brawley's story was so ridiculous on its face that a New York grand jury - which would classically indict a "ham sandwich" - laughed her accusations out of court.

Nothing actually happened to Brawley.

Martin actually was shot and killed.

I'm not defending Brawley but she was a kid who told a horrible lie to cover up behavior her parents apparently disapproved of. That outrageous lie was then catapulted to epic proportions by her parents and Al Sharpton.

I've often wondered if Brawley came up with those details on her own or if her original version was embellished to suit Sharpton's needs. We all know on his TV gig, truth isn't something Sharpton particularly cares about; I guarantee it wasn't important to him in the Brawley affair, either.

It’s not SOL. The issue is dormancy. Dormancy rules vary from state to state. I believe that pretty much anywhere you can keep a judgment alive if you continue to file the magic papers and to search for the debtor and try to execute.

I believe he also had a judgement against Al Sharpton who hasn’t paid a dime either.
