HURT: Gun grabbers won’t heed NRA’s sensible advice
The Washington Times ^ | 25 December, 2012 | Charles Hurt

What an irony it was to watch the National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre finally emerge after a self-imposed and highly publicized week of silence after the incomprehensible killings of 20 elementary school children.

To the elite media, the NRA is the unrivaled boogeyman of Washington lobbyists. The ignorant and urban press would have you believe that the NRA is behind every piece of legislation that has ever passed Congress. That these evil gun-toters sit in the balconies above the House and Senate floors controlling the lawmakers below like marionettes on strings.

So moneyed and talented are these slick-tongued lobbyists that lawmakers cannot help but crumple beneath their spell.

Then out walks Mr. LaPierre into the lights. And in an open news conference carried live, he tells a nation of brokenhearted people who are worried and even a little terrified about all the diabolical mayhem going on to, basically, “Quit crying and arm up!”

What the low info voter doesn’t know is the story is reversed in the extreme. The NRA has been on the scene for every obnoxious, anti-gun, anti-second amendment, anti-individual rights, travesty since NFA 1934 and that is an irrefutable fact.

Oh, and that doesn’t begin to address the many other issues that indicate they do not have the interests of the American Citizen at heart when considering rights.

“The NRA has been on the scene for every obnoxious, anti-gun, anti-second amendment, anti-individual rights, travesty since NFA 1934 and that is an irrefutable fact.”

They’ve also supported anti-gun politicians like Harry Reid. They do a lot of good in the country but sure like to compromise.

It never ceased to amaze me the NRA’s support of various so called “blue-dog” Democrats because of their claims to votes on 2nd Ammendment issues, and even if true, most of them, Reid included, has done and will do anything in their power to promote and accelerate the promotion and confirmation of some of the most anti-2nd Amendment Supreme Court nominees imaginable.

The Soros paid propaganda machine is primed to attack the NRA after ever incident. The goal is to render their political support toxic like cigarette makers.

The victims of Sandy Hook are just pawns.

Let me put it this way, the NRA appears to enjoy being in the forefront of gun issues, when it remains somewhat questionable in many minds just how effective or just how much good they really have done over time.

Well, I bet it has something to do with this.

If you want some right protected, or for that matter if you want anything at all protected, would you want the GOP protecting it?

As untrustworthy and shifty as the democrats are, you can count on the GOP to lose 100% of the time, you can count on the GOP not to show up at all. The GOP is incapable of doing anything about anything.

Folks ... please ... chill out for a minute.

Has the NRA even once, ONCE, gone against their core philosophy? Are they not the gun defenders we have ALWAYS expected them to be? (If you need the NRA core philosophy defined, then you’re too stupid to join this discussion and we ask you to please go away.)

Yes, they’ve backed shaky politicians and questionable policies in the past. So what? This is a war, not a skirmish, and sometimes you’re going to lose battles but the cause remains. This kind of defensive war can never be won until the other side stops attacking, which will never happen. These are good defenders, these NRA gun nuts!!

Please look at the NRA in the grand scheme of things. They have NEVER WAVERED from their central theme. Not once. We know what they mean and what they want and we want the same things ... overall. And they are NOT the government. That alone should make them darlings of the right.

If the NRA came out tomorrow and declared for universal gun confiscation, then I would accept that as a certain sign of the apocalypse. Otherwise, the NRA has always, ALWAYS, been on the side of gun owners. Always.

Time to back the good guys, ya think?
