A BIG HAND FOR THE LITTLE LADY (Maria Bartiromo calls Dem Senator out for being duplicitous)
Powerline ^ | 12/26/2012 | Scott Johnson

Posted on 12/26/2012 8:46:00 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Maria Bartiromo cuffed Senator Ben Cardin (D., MD) about the ears when he turned up on her show to peddle the party line on the fiscal cliff negotiations. Having unsuccessfully explored alternatives to raising tax rates with him, she commented: “That’s all you want to do. That’s it. It’s your way or the highway. Raise the rates on the rich. No other way. Your way or the highway. That’s it. That’s where we are. Thank you, Senator.”

Bartiromo was not amused. She heatedly observed: “You’re talking about $1.2 trillion in revenue, but you’re not prepared to put anything on the table. People are not stupid!”

Larry O’Connor draws attention to the interview and picks up the story:

What happened next was one of this unscripted and spontaneous events that we love seeing on CNBC. Because the anchors are often engaged in these shouting matches while reporting from their perch hovering over the trading floor (or in the case of Rick Sentelli right smack in the middle of the trading floor) the traders, the men and women who actually have to deal with the consequences of politicians’ ham-fisted policies, are listening and following the heated exchanges.

After Bartiromo called Cardin (and all Democrats) out for their duplicitous approach the traders erupted in cheers and applause….

O’Connor has posted the entire interview along with his post. Below are the last few minutes.

I'm not impressed. So we actually have somebody in the MSM getting mad at a Dem for incompetence. So what? What's the substance of her argument? Get more revenues by closing loopholes.

The answer of course isn't more taxes or cutting tax loopholes. "Loopholes" are much needed tax relief. THE ANSWER IS CUTTING GOVERNMENT and CUTTING SPENDING by TRILLIONS of dollars.

When somebody gets in front of the American people with that, then I'll be impressed.

you are right.

Cut spending.

Tax increases to solve the annual budget deficit, which must be reversed to later then solve the national debt, is likened to giving a person with pulse projection arterial bleeding a vitamin, thinking that'll fix everything. Cut the spending first (stop the bleeding), then provide the healing nutrition (revenue increases through getting more employed and paying taxes, not tax increases)

Me too. Neither of them is solving the problem; just shouting over each other. Sounds like following a script to make the American people think they are actually on their side. Don’t buy any of this.

Yup ! He is one of mine from Maryland, the other is a little midget troll whose sexual preferences are dubious at best, but follows the DNC talking points right down the line.

The only time we ever hear from her is at election time, when she breaks out her war chest checkbook.

Little babs Mukulski and Cardin. two losers.

“People are not stupid!”

I would respectfully disagree with Ms. Bartameo. If that were true we would not be anticipating the upcoming re-inaugural of Barack Hussein Obama II.

I don’t care for her but she was correct about exposing these dems for only wanting tax increases. We all know by now that for (R)s to cave means that (D)s can call the recession a bipartisan failure.

You can also thank that jerk who ran as an independent and probably siphoned a lot of votes from Bongino. I was just thinking about him recently, and it occurred to me that the Rats may well have been behind his campaign.
