The Case Against Public Education ( Abolish it!)
American Thinker ^ | December 26, 2012 | By Daren Jonescu

Posted on 12/26/2012 11:03:12 AM PST by wintertime

If public education is allowed to survive, all efforts to resuscitate the inert husk of modern civilization will fail. It is time to unravel the most wasteful and destructive entitlement program of all. .

(snip)

For years, reasonable and serious people have known that the educational establishment is at the root of the undoing of modernity and its natural political fruit, individual liberty. And for years, excepting a tiny, brave minority of parents and educators, most citizens have assumed that the problems of the education system, however grave, are to be resolved through legislative reforms, bureaucratic changes, or school board activism.

Such methods, though often undertaken with the noblest of intentions, have always failed, in spite of the few heartening but minor victories that may have been won on the way to ultimate defeat. This general failure is inevitable, as treating the superficial symptoms of a fatal disease will always be, whatever temporary relief such treatment may bring to the sufferer.

It is time for all those who have struggled in frustration to change "the system" -- and that includes the brave minority of public school teachers who have chosen to stand quixotically against the progressive avalanche -- to band together with other advocates of freedom and virtue in taking a bolder step: acknowledge that the system itself is rigged to fail, or, at its worst, to "succeed" on evil terms. Acknowledge that, implausible as it may sound to most people at this early stage, if you really want to raise a generation of rational, decent adults prepared to shrug off the chains that today's majority has accepted in exchange for its "fair share" of the state's ill-gotten booty, you must emancipate the next generation of young adults from progressivism's universal indoctrination program.

Please substitute the words "slave" and "slavery" for the words , "student" , "child", and "school" in the posts defending government compulsory indoctrination. You will soon see that the exact same arguments used to defend slavery are the **same** arguments used to defend compulsory government indoctrination centers ( misnamed "schools').

Fundamentally, there are institutions so evil that they must be abolished even if those oppressed are materially worse off than before. Government K-12 schooling is one of those institutions.

By the way,.....In one very tiny way, slavery was not as evil as government schooling. At least the government did not force citizens to pay taxes to uphold and support slavery institutions, and no one was forced by the government to buy or use the services of a slave.

Another Reason to Homeschool

And....This article outlines very clearly many of the reasons why government schooling must be abolished. It can not be reformed.

“What’s your plan and how are you going to go about it?!”

Simply take the federal and state governments out of it. Let the local districts have total control. The alternative is is the end of th U.S.

I got to the word always and quit. Whenever you get to those words in a “the moon is falling” article you know they are just bold faced lying.
Always and never are almost never true but are the words used by zealots who do not want to have a logical truthful, factual, discussion on a given subject. What they are trying to feed the readers is that, “this is over, this is decided, because I SAID SO.”

BS

The top producers from our schools right now are not from home schools but are Asians who attend our public schools.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Indeed! I agree. That is why we must shut down the government indoctrination camps.

This abomination of government schooling was from the beginning ( mid1800s) a socialist-funded, single-payer, compulsory-use entitlement.

Nothing good can come from socialist, single-payer, and compulsory programs. In fact, it was my great-grandparents , my grandparents and my father's generations that made Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt possible. They were born in the 1860s, 1890s, and 1910s.

In just three generations of socialist schooling the direction of our nation was entirely changed for the socialist worst. And....We are heading rapidly toward tyranny.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

These kids are being afterschooled.

Where is the evidence that these ambitious Asians are getting their education in their government indoctrination camp? Show me the studies.

Where are the studies that separate out what is learned in their government indoctrination camp for that acquire OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL in home from the parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and STUDY CLUBS?

I will make an “always” and “never” statement:

Without these studies it is impossible to know if government schools teach anything at all.

So?....Prove it. Prove that the schools are the reason for the success of Asians. Where are the studies? Or...Are you merely making assumptions due your own early childhood indoctrination?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is the same argument defenders of slavery used!

“What’s your plan to end slavery? How are you going to go about ending slavery”?

Answer: We do it because it is the right thing to do even if those who are freed from the government compulsion are worse off materially than before.

Yep! Even if children are WORSE off without compulsory, socialist, single-payer, and GODLESS indoctrination, we do it anyway because the human spirit cries out for freedom.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Government schooling must be abolished because it is a freedom of conscience and First Amendment abomination. The human spirit demands it. We do regardless of the consequences.

To help you see this let’s rephrase your statement somewhat differently

” We need slavery to maintain our economy. That is the why of slavery.”.

Nothing justifies government compelled socialist-entitlement schooling, It must be abolished because it is fundamentally WRONG!

Right. The Asian kids they are talking about go home and for the next three hours they work their butts off, being drilled in a way they the best private school kids are drilled.

wintertime, I was talking about the origination of the concept of free education for all. The fact that it has been completely corrupted is a travesty. In no way should my comment be construed as a reason to maintain government ed. Even the colleges are completely corrupted. No one can think anymore, lying is A-OK.

If you go back to the test required to graduate from 8th grade back in the day when you only matriculated if you passed, you will see that most adults today would flunk it abysmally.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If they have been employed more than 2 or 3 years, if they are not warning every parent they see to remove their kids, if they are not seen protesting the union mobs, then they are part of the problem. They are enablers of evil.

My decision: I shun these people. I will not have a government school employee for a friend and work to keep them out of my life as much as possible. They are too evil, too stupid, or too much of a well-meaning Useful Idiot to be a friend.

Do yourself a favour and look up the definition of “false anology” among logical fallacies.

And answer the question (which is what it was from the get go and nothing more, a question) : What’s your plan and how are you going to go about it?! Because so far you only run your mouth and accuse others of supporting GASP! slavery!

The irony is that one-room school houses in the 19th century, haphazardly financed and staffed, produced grammar school graduates—sometimes—with more learning than our high school graduates in general. Think of Matty in “True Grit.”

A lot of those folks are trying to buck the system as best they can. Many get out once they see what is happening, explaining why more than half do not stay beyond five years.

The government schools haven't been corrupted. They were **always** corrupt from the beginning in the mid-1800s. Please think about this.

The foundation upon which compulsory government schools were built was **always**compulsory socialist-funding, single-payer, and compulsory-use. Nothing good can come from that.

Indeed, my great grandparents, grandparents, and father's generations made Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt possible. They were born in the 1860s, 1890s, and 1910s.

In just 3 generations!.... Just 3 generations of socialist schooling indoctrination and the voting mob gave us Franklin D. Roosevelt and socialist programs that have never be rolled back.
