And my students let me play them.

Did teacher show them how they could be playing one day?

Nice day for teacher!

I let a Blues lick come screaming forth.

I practice on a very inferior electric guitar that is hard to play.

Then I pick up the Les and My fingers fly.

It is like being set free from bondage, like a bird being let out of a cage.

3 different kinds of guitars?

Do you have a preference for yourself?

Did you make any recommendations?

For an Acoustic Guitar, I recommend Taylor (High End), as it has very nice wood, easy action and a beautiful sound. Less Expensive is the Epiphone, which is produced under the auspices of Gibson, and gives very good value for the money.

Among Rock Musicians, there is much controversy as to which is the better instrument...Gibson or Fender. Both Companies have American Roots, but they both also have a cheaper line made in you-know-where. Gibson’s line of Cheep Guitars is called “Maestro” and Fender’s line is called “Squire”. Maestro and Squire are sold by the trainload at Christmas time and they are OK for a kid who wants to get started, but you will NEVER see one “onstage”.

The King of the Fender line is the Stratocaster. These range from about $800 up to 5 FIGURES for a vintage , good condition, signed guitar with provenance. (Jimi’s old strat sold recently for SIX FIGURES). Fender also makes the Telecaster which has similar qualities, but sometimes the semi-hollow body causes feedback.

Gibson also makes two Classic Styles, the Les Paul and The SG. I have a Les Paul, but I recommend the SG for my students because it has a smaller, thinner body, and very cool-looking cutaways that resemble “devil horns”. I had a vintage SG many years ago and sold it to pay a MORTGAGE. It would be worth even more now! LOL!

My Les Paul is my Treasure. It has some dings in the paint, but it plays like an absolute dream. The “inferior” guitar that toughens up my fingers is a Carlo Robelli(Sam Ash House Brand) of course made in you-know-where. But I did not enrich the People’s Republic, as I bought it at a yard sale for $15.00 and fixed it up myself! I do NOT recommend it . LOL

My Les Paul list priced for $3999.99. I paid about $1200 for it, splitting it between two VISA’s a Mastercard, and my Sam Ash Credit Card. That was for my 2009 Birthday, and in the three years that I have owned it, it has made me a better musician. How can you put a price tag on THAT?

Good morning LUV and (((HUGS))). Looks like you are warmer than we are, since it is still 32 here. Daughter is coming in later today, so we should have a blast.

Super that your daughter is coming in! Are you cooking any special dish for her?

It’s supposed to get up to 58 today, but it’s still darn chilly!
