Professor: Don't Be Surprised If There's A War Between Japan And China In The Next Year
Business Insider ^ | 12/26/12

Chinese planes flew near Japanese airspace Monday to assert its claims to Japan's Senkaku islands (China calls them the Diaoyu islands).

The move came just as Japan announced its new prime minister.

Hugh White, a professor at Australian National University and a former Australian defense official, believes this is the latest sign the two countries are heading to war.

And the U.S. will be dragged in.

Writing in the Sydney Morning Herald, White says we are now witnessing the types of conditions that have historically led to war — despite conflict being in no one's interest.

THIS is how wars usually start: with a steadily escalating stand-off over something intrinsically worthless. So don't be too surprised if the US and Japan go to war with China next year over the uninhabited rocks that Japan calls the Senkakus and China calls the Diaoyu islands. And don't assume the war would be contained and short.

...

It seems almost laughably unthinkable that the world's three richest countries - two of them nuclear-armed - would go to war over something so trivial. But that is to confuse what starts a war with what causes it.

The conflict is really about China challenging the U.S. in the Pacific...

all Japan must do is use a few subs to sink all the container ships leaving China and their economy will fold up in short order. Wal-Mart will close as well. obama will do squat—he dare not offend his Chinese masters. A war against Japan will get popular support from China’s peasant masses— but it could go badly—and in nukes are used—Japan will fold. Look to see Russia stick her nose into this mess, along with India. The USA will be neutral—lead from behind—UN letter writer. What ever help we give Japan will be token support only. War could go into a North/South Korea conflict as well.

The last thing they want is for none of us idiots to buy their cheap adultrated crap which will cause massive unemployment in China and could easily cause an internal revolt.

I think this has always been our plan.

But, of course, these things would never happen.

Not unless you believe the supposed DHS mole who was interviewed and published in the Canadian Free Press...

Had the last 4 years been anything other than an africanized government, I would agree. Although it may have been someone with more brains who previously orchestrated the Chinamen into the corner.

Hasn't Japan had nukes for years? They're ‘unassembled’ - so technically they're not quite nukes...just a guess.

Japanese pols are openly talking about their nukes now.

War would be irrational and destructive. I wonder if their national penchant for suicide goes that far?
