The good news is that if we ever do get that assault rifle ban, followed by a handgun ban, followed by a ban of anything that can shoot bullets, the “Banners” will still have a banner year of banning all the other ways with which people kill other people.

Instead of gun crime, the UK worries about knife crime. And has been practicing knife control.

At a philosophical level, these “banning” laws are all about the fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals believe in the group, not the individual. Therefor all control of individuals is thru the group force of government. It becomes a substitute for rational thought.
For conservatives, they believe in the individual and individual responsibility for ones own actions. The individual is self regulated thru moral teaching of right and wrong.
For 50 plus years, liberals have chipped away at the notion of individual responsibility. They’ve help remove God, and therefor morality, from teaching. We are now reaping the fallout form their relativistic non-jugemental notions.

That’s always the thing to remember with Britain. They are only about 60 million, compared to over 300 million here. Factor of 5 and change difference in populations, so a million brits vs a million Americans, they’re experiencing whatever five times more across their population than we are.
PLus their numbers are shrinking and they can’t stop offing their elderly citizens fast enough through neglect, mistakes, deliberate euthanasia, or long waits for care that the person dies waiting for care (indirect euthanasia).
