(Reuters) - Americans blame Republicans in Congress more than congressional Democrats or President Barack Obama for the current "fiscal cliff" crisis, as the deadline approaches for action to avert big tax increases and spending cuts, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Thursday.

When asked who they believed to be more responsible for the "fiscal cliff" situation, 27 percent blamed Republicans in Congress, 16 percent blamed Obama and 6 percent pointed to Democrats in Congress. The largest percentage - 31 percent - blamed "all of the above."

Lets see 16 % blame Obama, 6% blame Democrats, and 31% blame all of the above. That means 53% do not blame Republicans.

27% blamed Republicans

53% and 27% leaves 20% that never voted at all. and yet they reach the conclusion that “AMERICANS” blame REpublicans for the cliff.

Well a-holes I am an American and I know who to blame.
There is plenty of blame to go around and it starts with the idiot that thought up this cliff BS in the first place instead of just denying Obama permission to raise the debt limit. Who signed this into law. OBAMA.

There is no "Fiscal Cliff"....there's handout after handout to buy votes, take Private Sector businesses, and then have the State-Run-Media trumpet the Talking Points that blame it all on Rich Republicans who won't "share" their income with the low-lifes and sex deviates that ARE the Democrat Voterbase.

NOWHERE do they (Media) even SUGGEST cutting back on SPENDING....it's not "Fair" that someone who works has MORE than the slugs who have NEVER worked, and have lived off HANDOUTS their entire lives.

they dont want to cut spending because they and their pals are skimming zillions of dollars from all the spending ... (and since they won’t even pass a budget there’s no beginning point for any potential future audit).

(also a small portion of the spending buys them votes so they can keep skimming off the big bucks)

so they won’t cut spending.
and
they don’t want to let business recover and create real jobs for people because... this way they have several extra millions of people on the dole... dependent on them...
which translates into more votes for more of the same.

this is what is meant by our “having past the tipping point” in Obama’s “transformation” of America

prepare thyself for at least 4 more years of hard times

“Goes to show that folks are fed up with all of the above politicos.”

Yet they elected the same people to the same offices, so they can’t be to fed up.

Not to mention candidates who stuck their feet in their mouths exactly at the wrong time (e.g., Akin and Mourdock). We can't win if we run candidates who are right on the issues but say stupid things to a press who is out for their blood anyway.

There are a lot of party hacks who are incompetent, yes, absolutely true. But there are also examples of where the sheeple were given a clear, unambiguous choice between government dependence and free stuff, and individual liberty and self-reliance. The sheeple chose the government dependency. They wanted their "free" stuff, Obamaphones, Obamabucks, Obamacare. My only hope is that when what these people voted for crashes the system, they will be hurt worse than the rest of us, who maybe can see it coming and plan ahead.

Well, in a sense, the Republicans are to “blame”. Obama told us that his prescription to fix the ailing economy was a $ trillion spending in “stimulus”. America took the medicine. For four years. It had almost no positive effect on the economy. The Republicans tried to pressure Obama to cut spending by holding up raising the debt ceiling. In order to get the debt ceiling raised, Obama, and true enough, the Republicans created a ‘doomsday’ device now known as the fiscal cliff. It was thought that that would bring a meaningful conversation on spending reduction. So, the Republicans are responsible for creating the fiscal cliff. Obama, of course is responsible for going over it, because, secretly, he wants to.

Me too! I cannot worry about what the uninformed drones say.

This election proves half of America is blatantly stupid.

The tax cuts should have been made permanent....

Agree, but there were not the votes for it. Nor are there the votes to make them permanent now.

IOW, 27% will blame the GOP if they prevent Obama from borrowing, printing, and spending to pay for the freebies he promised them.
