Daniels Era Obliterates Democrats (Indiana)
Hendricks County Flyer ^ | December 24, 2012 | Brian Howey

From a political perspective, the decade-long "Mitch Daniels era" has been devastating for Indiana Democrats.

Gov. Daniels returned to the state from the White House in 2002 and with the help of Bob Grand, Jim Kittle Jr., and Randall Tobias, an engineered coup at the Indiana Republican Party began a political sequence that will reshape Indiana for at least the next decade.

I know Mitch Daniels is considered a RINO by many on FR, but this story details how he shredded the unions, passed right to work and built supermajorities in both houses of Indiana govt.

Daniels is great. He just doesn’t have it in him to win at the national level. Little charisma. Not a fighter. He’s a great elected official. If I could just pick someone and place them in the White House to govern, he might be the one I’d choose.

Unions are the Achilles heel of the Democratic Party.

"I know Mitch Daniels is considered a RINO by many on FR" He got results. Our state is not perfect but our government knows that it works for us. We got rid of the last administrations at state and in the city of Indianapolis that forgot it. I wish we could keep him another 8 years.

Unions are the Achilles heel of the Democratic Party.

And biggest source of funding (after the People's Republic of China, that is).

There are several groups that have no bussiness in the Democratic party, unions and churchgoing minorities.

Eventually they will split off, it’s just a matter of time.

I wouldn’t want him as president and there are several things I could complain about.

But I have to agree. He’s set Indiana Democrats back for a while.

"Call-a-Truce-on-Social-Issues" Daniels is held to higher conservative standards by a conservative congress. I seriously doubt he would have pushed a state marriage amendment on his own - that was completely the initiative of the legislature. They'll have to pass it again in the next session before it can go before voters in 2014.

Daniels still doesn't "get it." He never will until he embraces all of conservatism.

The Freepers who imagined Daniels to be a RINO come in a couple of flavors. One bunch dwell on something he said that suggested we might be better off in the next election by not touching social issues ~ then the next election was 2010 and we swept all before us. He quit talking about that issue. Then we have the crowd who wanted him to take on Right To Work back before Republicans had a sufficient majority in the House and Senate to pass the bills into law easily. He waited. Its law.

So, yes, Daniels knows the Bush family, and a bunch of other people in Washington, and he knows how to run a pharmaceutical company AND get Conservative legislation passed.

Oh, yeah, there's a third bunch who told us he wasn't Conservative enough ~ THE MITTBOTS!

“He got results. Our state is not perfect but our government knows that it works for us.”

So it can be done! We can get rid of the GOPe. Where do we find some more guys like Daniels to do what he has done in Indiana on the national level? There just has to be something better than the Doles, McLames and Romneys. Bush wasn’t a particularly good president, but he was lightyears ahead of these three losers.

Put the fear of God in politicians. We had just moved to Indiana in 2003 and people were ready to march on the statehouse with pitchforks and torches over the property taxes. The Democrats in Indianapolis tried to screw around with the tax rates to get more from people and they were removed. The people were also tired of the tax and spend BS from the Dem governor and Daniels came in and focused on the right issues. The state is doing well financially, adding jobs, and removing barriers.

Wisconsin’s bargaining fight and Michigan’s right to work win are direct results from Indiana and Daniels. Wisconsin better get on with Right to Work because Illinois and Ohio (which stupidly voted RTW away) are going to lose jobs to Indiana.

Daniels policies were and are acceptable because they work...I never want this state to revert to the Evan Bayh years when money disappeared like water over a dam.....we were stupid enough, this year to elect donnelly to the senate...now we have 1 republican and 1 LIBERAL democrat in the senate....in other words no vote at all...brilliant.

I was no fan of Lugar and voted Mourdock in the primary, never suspecting he was would perform so poorly in the campaign. I take blame for trading an 80% Republi can for a 97% Baraqqi.

Even a casual Rush listener like myself realized in January that journ-0-list Stephanopolus signaled that the Democrat theme would be war on women. How can a guy running for national office not be prepped for that?

Mourdock fumbled badly on abortion in the debates, and gave the Dems a “gotcha” quote which the MSM ran with and the Dems hammered it constantly on tv and radio.

Any casual listener to Limbaugh or Dana Loesh knew this was coming. Journ-0-list Stephanopolus signaled it at the first Republican president primary debate.

I’ll repeat the correct answer in case anybody needs it:

So let me understand this, you’re in favor of letting convicted murderers live but killing innocent pre-born children?

I have no idea....and the worthless gal who won the union backed education secretary position is even more amazing....she got more votes than the governor!!!...Luckily, the governor and the legislature have the final vote over policy, thus saner voices should prevail!!
