Ed Markey to run for Kerry’s Senate seat
Washington Post ^ | December 27, 2012 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 12/27/2012 4:28:18 PM PST by ConservativeStatement

Markey, 66, has served in the House since 1976 and is the dean of the Massachusetts delegation. The veteran House member announced his decision in a statement, saying, “There is so much at stake.”

“I refuse to allow the Tea Party-dominated Republican Party to lead us off the fiscal cliff and into recession,” Markey said. “I won’t allow the NRA to obstruct an assault weapons ban yet again. I will not sit back and allow oil and coal industry lobbyists to thwart our clean energy future or extremists to restrict women’s rights and health care.”

Markey is a closet marxist. Just look at his record on defense and foreign affairs.

Then again, being a Democrat Party marxist in Massachusetts is like being a turd in a toilet, a natural thing.

Running for Kerry’s seat? Sort of like running for Benedict Arnold’s commission, eh?

Massachusetts: summed up by Kerry, Markey, Warren, and Patrick. Welcome to Moscow West.

If democrats ever stopped creating imaginary victims and stopped dividing us in order to conquer us, the party would dissolve and our republic might recover.

As long as demagogues like Mahhkey dominate what passes for political discourse, our march into a hard tyranny is certain.

Eddie Markey puts the tahd in retahded. This dude has never had a job, has no MA address and has the IQ of a spoiled banana...Sad fact is Massholes are equally as stupid and will vote for this shmuck.

Icing on the cake...will make me move for sure now!

I wonder at times if conservatives should not run as democrats in places like this.

Even a liberal republican would be a huge improvement. Can Scott Brown switch parties?

Indeed. What the hell is keeping you there anyway? The only correct answer is: job. "Family" don't count. We have means of transportation nowadays.

“Can Scott Brown switch parties?”

Why should he. The MAGOP and the Demonrats are pretty much one and the same except that the MAGOP meets in the coat room of the Newton Marriot and the Rats rent a hall.

Running against “assault weapons” will very probably win it for the Rats. The Gay State is very probably the single filthiest state in the union, although Vermont,Rhode Island and one or two others sure give us a run for our money.

Americans For Democratic Action gave Brown a rating of 20% for the year 2010 (the latest year they've rated). To them a score that low basically labels you as a Nazi (by their reckoning) so he could be a lot worse.

“I refuse to allow the Tea Party-dominated Republican Party to lead us off the fiscal cliff and into recession,” Markey said.

What an example of historical and constitutional illiteracy this statement by Markey represents!

Remember, the citizens' movement described as the Taxed Enough Already Party (as in the Boston Tea Party) was just that--a citizens' movement, by millions of ordinary citizens who understood their history, as well as something about the original "Boston Tea Party" and its effectiveness on behalf of liberty.

Markey is just another arrogant so-called "progressive" flaunting his lack of understanding of his nation's founding principles, as well as his utter disdain for his fellow citizens who know that adherence to those principles is the only way to restore freedom, opportunity, and prosperity to America.

"To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:39

"I deem [this one of] the essential principles of our government and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration:... The honest payment of our debts and sacred preservation of the public faith." --Thomas Jefferson: 1st Inaugural, 1801. ME 3:322

"I sincerely believe... that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale." --Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816. ME 15:23

"[With the decline of society] begins, indeed, the bellum omnium in omnia [war of all against all], which some philosophers observing to be so general in this world, have mistaken it for the natural, instead of the abusive state of man. And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:40

“Americans For Democratic Action gave Brown a rating of 20% for the year 2010”

That was the year we all projected our conservative hopes & dreams on Scottie.

Wonder what they would have rated him the following two years?

Oh well, fool me once. Water over the dam.

(Sorry, I’m just disgusted with the whole thing.)
