Knott Co. homeowner shot multiple times, kills gunman(TN)

KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Christmas night, Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call that a person was possibly shot at the Jamestown Village Trailer Park in the Talcum community of Knott County.

Police tell WKYT their early investigation indicates that two male subjects went to the residence of Ricky Sweet and asked to borrow gasoline. Police say that Sweet retrieved some gas from an outside storage building, when one of the individuals pulled out a handgun and demanded money. Police say Sweet fought back and gun fire was exchanged.

They are searching for the accomplice.

Sweet, age 61, received multiple gunshots and was transported to the Hazard ARH and later transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment. Aaron Pratt, age 45, of Pinetop, received a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Knott County Coroner. We know who was the better shot.

Hazard was a rough town in the 30’s when my grandfather patrolled
there as a KY state trooper. It’s still a rough place....most of appalachian
towns can be tough and dangerous.

If he would have just given them his wallet and not pulled out his gun and shot them he wouldn’t have got shot - the mind of a deranged liberal. Yeah tell that to my buddy whose family was held at gunpoint during a home invasion by 2 black thugs and later driven by one of them to a local ATM to dump out all their money and then would have probably been shot and dumped somewhere and the family executed. He knew what was up and jumped out of the vehicle and saved himself and his family. He ended up crushing part of his face and has never looked the same all because of those thugs.
