Hoyer compares GOP debt limit tactics to hostage taker threatening to shoot child

Less than two weeks after one of the nation's deadliest school shootings, the No.2 Democrat in the U.S. House, Steny Hoyer, compared Republican tactics for dealing with the nation's debt limit to someone threatening to shoot a child hostage.

"It's somewhat like taking your child hostage and saying to somebody else, 'I'm going to shoot my child if you don't do what I want done.' You don't want to shoot your child. There's no Republican leader that wants to default on our debt, that I've talked to," Hoyer said at a Capitol Hill press conference.

Another straw argument

"There's no Republican leader that wants to default on our debt,..."

Failing to increase the debt is not "defaulting" on the debt. It just halts profligate spending.

Hoyer doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The only tactic we have seen from the GOP so far is to cave. In the coming days, I expect to see a repeat of the August 2011 fiasco. Democrats will promise minimal spending cuts some time in the next decade or two, and in return, Republican will sign off on the biggest debt ceiling increases this country has ever seen. Don’t believe me? Stay tuned and watch.

Hoyer should remember that this kind of thing is always the President’s responsibility to resolve and his fault if he fails. All 0bama has to do is agree with the House plan, get Reid to go along, and the country will be better off fiscally. What’s Hoyer’s god-damned problem with that?

I don’t care how he sees it. Raising the debt limit is nothing more than paying for Barack Obama’s campaign promises. Screw that, screw Steny Hoyer, screw everybody that voted for Barack Obama- every last one of them.

You can always count on the dope dealer to tell the addict kid that he'll feel better again after taking a somewhat larger dose.

Cool. The sad thing is Hoyer’s actual quote is more demented than the text I added. It's difficult to top that kind of absurdity.

What’s Hoyer’s god-damned problem with that?

It is totally a political problem.

EVERYBODY, including the rats, knows that the meaningless, drop-in-the-bucket tax hike on "the rich" does next to nothing to address America's debt and deficit and is, rather, a purely symbolic concession demanded by the rats for the sole purpose of dividing and ultimately destroying the GOP. The rats need the GOP to abandon its most consistent and important core principle and agree to a tax hike - - ANY tax hike - - and then they will beat the GOP to death. The American public will never believe the Republicans again, and the party will die.

This is why Ubanga wouldn't bite on the "close loopholes and cap deductions" crap in lieu of a definite rate hike. Even though the revenues would be about the same, with the "close loopholes and cap deductions" plan the Republicans would be able to talk out both sides of their mouth when trying to convince the ignorant chattering class that they didn't raise taxes. Ubanga wants something more concrete, something the Republicans can't lie their way out of.

“Steny Hoyer, compared Republican tactics for dealing with the nation’s debt limit to someone threatening to shoot a child hostage.”

How does it compare to spending all of the child’s money and destroying a country the child would have loved?

Huh, asshole?

Is Hoyer related to Biden? Or is he in competition for the title of ‘the Most Stupid’ remarks.
