Maybe. But neither Hagel nor Buchanan fall into that camp.
Israel has never asked for US boots on the ground. In fact the reverse is true. Israel prefers to be left to do it themselves without US troops or UN Peacekeepers in the way.
Buchanan would have some credibility if he stuck to your point. But instead he makes it clear he wants to force Israel to do US bidding, and his version of US bidding favors the terrorists not Israel. Now if he took a position on forcing any of our other allies into doing US bidding, he would also gain some credibility. But alas he singles out only Israel as a recalcitrant ally acting against US interests.

Who is “Ambassador Michael Aron?”
You mean this Michael Aron?
British Ambassador to Kuwait
I think you mean Michael Oren. But why should anyone expect you to get your facts straight.
How about this WSJ article written by Ambassador Oren on3/9/12:
“The only place in the Middle East where Christians aren’t endangered but flourishing is Israel. Since Israel’s founding in 1948, its Christian communities (including Russian and Greek Orthodox, Catholics, Armenians and Protestants) have expanded more than 1,000%.”

“The extinction of the Middle East’s Christian communities is an injustice of historic magnitude. Yet Israel provides an example of how this trend can not only be prevented but reversed. With the respect and appreciation that they receive in the Jewish state, the Christians of Muslim countries could not only survive but thrive.”

Yup, sounds like he really hates Christians and wants to expel them.
