BTW I have heard a lot about the book “Unintend. Cons.” for a long time but had never read, or even been able to find. All I thought I knew was that supposedly it went to the armed insurrection scenario and was thus sort of ... oh, I don’t know, suspect a bit maybe.

I finally tracked down a copy and have just started reading.

What I did NOT know about were the details in the historical foundation that it lays out. It is astounding, the way things went in the past to head us toward where we are now.

The idea - in 1934 - of a $200 tax that one was required to pay, to keep old guns worth $5 to $10, which one had owned for years, and when folks were barely getting by - when the federal firearms law was enacted - was then and is now clearly ridiculous.

And that the law was upheld by the Supreme Court (when found unconstitutional in district court) - because the defendants had moved and couldn’t be found, and thus the defense lawyers didn’t show, AND the federal attorney misrepresented the case and the situation?

Your point is well taken. Folks need to let the legislators know that they cannot go where they are talking about going. We cannot let things slide.
