Aye, but the list was of breakaways which have sprung up within the past decade. LCMS dates to Martin Stephan settlement in the mid 1800's.
“In 1824, Martin Stephan began to explore America as a place to practice the faith without harassment. Martin and ten other men formed a “Gesellschaft” or Society for emigration from Dresden to St. Louis, Missouri. He helped organize 700 people and five ships for passage to America in November 1838.”
Can’t find any fault with that.
My observation, having attended LCMS schools from elementary through college, is that the LCMS has broken away from the LCMS - a process that has accelerated since 2001.
Once upon a time it was an organization whose focus was on empowering individuals to utilize their free mind in interaction with The Word.
Today, that’s been usurped in some cases by parrots in the pulpit who are self-evidently more interested in protecting a perch upon the pyramid steps.
And bring up Martin Luther’s lesser known work “On the Jews and Their Lies” - and the influence it may or may not’ve had on MEIN KAMPF? Fahgedabout dat.
