Iraq: Car bomb explosion kills 3 south of Baghdad

Iraqi officials say a parked car bomb has killed three people and wounded 21 south of Baghdad.

I seem to recall that there was a significant segment of Iraqis that did not want the US to withdraw troops.

All the lives and money expended in Iraq and Afghanistan in an attempt to bring civilization to these benighted savages would have been better spent elsewhere.

Iraq is returning to what ANY Islamic state will eventually return to once a western military presence is withdrawn.
In an Independent Islamic State, you can have only a few political situations:

1) Total anarchy

2) A Maniacal theocracy

3) A military dictatorship

In ALL of the above, human rights abuse WILL be the norm and non-Muslims will be brutalized (as well as Muslims - but heck, they DESERVE it for BEING Muslims).

The ONLY best case scenario is a “benevolent” military dictatorship such as existed under the Shah or Mubarack with pro-western sympathies.

When we respond militarily to an Islamic State we should stop this garbage about Democracy and Civil Rights and nation building. You go in blitzkrieg style - destroy their political and military infrastructure and LEAVE. Let them sort their OWN problems out, get help from the oil rich Saudis (good luck on THAT one) and contemplate the consequences of screwing with us again.

A BETTER case scenario is to forcibly convert them to any other religion - but we would never do that.
