A Kansas sperm donor who was ordered to pay child support for the baby he helped a lesbian couple conceive plans to fight back in court, and suggested he might be a victim of bias against same-sex parenting.

William Marotta told FoxNews.com he might never have agreed to provide sperm to Angela Bauer and her former partner, Jennifer Schreiner, had he known the legal morass that awaited him after responding to the women’s Craigslist ad for a donor in March 2009. The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) recently filed a child support claim against Marotta after the couple filed for state assistance this year, leading the department to demand they provide the donor’s name so it could collect

Well, in fairness to the lezbos, it sounds like they were forced to provide the sperm donor’s name. I see plenty of blame to go around here...the lesbians for trying to raise a child without a dad, the donor for answering a craigslist ad and not thinking of the possible consequences, the agency for demanding his name and going after him for child support, etc. It’s just a mess all around! Let this be a lesson to everyone not to even engage in things like this. Don’t bring any children into this world unless you’re in a traditional, man/woman marriage. But that’s not P.C. anymore.

If the couple has split and one of them is demanding child support, it should come from the former partner. I thought this gay stuff was about equality and being treated like everyone else.

So the child is 'on the state dole' for healthcare and the state is going after the biological father. Hmmmmmm. This is what happens when you start doing 'designer families' outside of the traditional one male/one female married model. I can see why he's upset, but then again, he gave away his DNA and made it possible for a child to be brought into this world, a child SOMEBODY has to be responsible for .... evidently he'd rather the taxpayers shoulder the burden, but I'd rather see him on the hook.

Agreed. I had a job once where one of the managers(a woman who looked, dressed and sounded like a middle school boy) and her “partner” were having a turkey baster child. They put all sorts of social pressure upon us to applaud and support them for it. I never said a word until she brought the poor child who didn’t asked to come into the world that way to the office. All I said was that the baby was cute but I never applauded the way he was conceived.

Where ever the UK goes the US soon follows.

Sperm donor to pay child support (2007)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/7125895.stm

This story was run on the Reuter’s wire in late 2001:

Sunday December 9, 02:42 PM

Swedish sperm donor must pay child support -report

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A court in Sweden has ruled that a man who
donated sperm for artificial insemination, enabling a lesbian couple to
have three children, must pay child support after the two women
separated, according to a Swedish newspaper.

The regional daily Nerikes Allehanda said on its Internet website a
county court ruled that the man was undoubtedly the children’s
biological father and hence obliged to pay child support of 2,838
crowns per month after the women’s 10-year relationship broke up.

The verdict poses a legal dilemma, however, because under Swedish law a
sperm donor is not regarded as the legal parent of children conceived
with the help of his semen. Sperm donors, however, are normally
strictly anonymous, while in this case the man was a friend of the
couple and his identity as the father is in no doubt.

The man has appealed.

They were able to adopt 8 children but married couples must jump through hoops and pay out their noses to adopt just one.

I suspect how he made the deposit is how they managed to get $upport.

“Bauer, 40, and Schreiner, 34, had been together for eight years and previously adopted other children when Marotta responded to their ad and later provided sperm used to artificially inseminate Schreiner, who could not be reached for comment Monday.”

If they are no longer able to financially provide for the children they adopted, those children should be removed from their care. Then maybe they can afford the one they had ‘naturally’.
