PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans again this year name Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama as the Most Admired Woman and Most Admired Man living in any part of the world. Clinton has been the Most Admired Woman each of the last 11 years, and Obama has been the Most Admired Man five years in a row. First lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Condoleezza Rice are next in line behind Clinton on the Most Admired Woman list, while Nelson Mandela, Mitt Romney, Billy Graham, George W. Bush, and Pope Benedict XVI follow Obama as Most Admired Man.
These results are based on a Dec. 19-22 USA Today/Gallup poll. Gallup's "Most Admired" question is open-ended, asking Americans to name, without prompting, the man and the woman they most admire living in any part of the world. Gallup first asked Americans to name their Most Admired Man in 1946, and in 1948 expanded the question to both genders. The question was not asked in 1976, and in 1967 only the Most Admired Man question was asked.
The open-ended nature of the question produces the names of people with high top-of-mind name identification, most often hailing from the world of government and politics; the list also includes individuals who have become famous serving humanitarian causes and others whose fame comes from the business and entertainment worlds.
This year, seven of those on the top 10 Most Admired Man list are from the world of U.S. government and politics: Obama, Romney, the two George Bushes, Bill Clinton, Ron Paul, and John McCain. One is from international politics -- Nelson Mandela -- and three are from religious vocations -- Billy Graham, Pope Benedict XVI, and the Dalai Lama.

God help us. This once great society is on the verge of collapse.
Who did Gallup call, WATTS, CA?
“God help us. This once great society is on the verge of collapse.”
Exactly right. Over half of Americans have lost their minds, yet their are still FReepers on here that want to condemn ME for bailing out of the new USSA, the land of nuts, fruits, and Commies.
Mitt Romney?? Really? Seriously??
The pope. Billy Graham. Obama. Which one doesn’t belong?
No longer on the verge.
It is gone.
Aw, I would have thought Kim Kardashian would have made the list.
When you go, let me know if there’s any homes/property for sale in the neighborhood. Things are at an obvious end, here.
The sooner we collapse th better.
Let me guess.. Was it 0bama calling for the ouster of American ally Mubarak that did it? Or maybe 0bama NOT calling for the ouster of the 0bama-funded Muslim Brotherhood’s Morsi after he declared himself ‘dictator’ that did it?.. Maybe the rejection of the Keystone pipeline? Or possibly 0bama’s granting amnesty for illegals, without consent of our Congress, to openly invade America and get free health care that AMERICANS pay for did the trick? Or how about 0bama allowing Americans to DIE in Benghazi because he was worried about how a failed rescue attempt might harm his re-election chances? Or how about telling America that various State Dept. personnel have been ‘let go’ over Benghazi only to find out THEY ARE STILL ON THE PAYROLL!! So many LIES, so much adoration for our celebrity president!!! Or how about stealing an election through voter fraud? Or bashing a filmmaker instead of terrorists? Or insisting Ft. Hood was ‘workplace violence’? Or maybe it was 0bama’s quote “”The future does not belong to those who slander the Prophet Mohammed”” that America loved hearing so much? There’s such a long list of ‘accomplishments’.. These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head!! I’m probably omitting the one that really won Americans over!
Thats funny they top my most despised list. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are numbers 3 & 4.
It has long been suspected the “polls” were biased or even rigged, now here is the proof....
A lot of people got ‘admired’ confused with ‘despised’.
RE: It has long been suspected the polls were biased or even rigged, now here is the proof....
How then do we explained MOST of the polls this year that correctly predicted Obama’s victory?
You bailed out? Did you leave?
I think they confused it with 'famous'. After all, if somebody is famous they must be admirable, right? Right...? :)
Just curious and speaking of famous, was Adolf Hitler ever on America’s most admired list before the second world war?
