Skip to comments.Ed Schultz: Obama Took "Republicans To The Cleaners" In Fiscal Cliff Deal (video)
Posted on 12/31/2012 8:52:07 PM PST by i88schwartz
ED SCHULTZ, MSNBC: "If I could just put it this way: the White House is taking the Republicans to the cleaners in negotiation on this. This is a huge win for the White House, if they can get the votes on this. And that's why Schumer is coming out, saying that there's going to be strong Democratic support here. This is a big win for the Democrats, no question about it. A big win for America. This underscores the vote on November 6th, there's no question about it."

he didn’t take the GOP leaders anywhere they didn’t already want to go
Republicans = The Washington Generals.
Thanks for the timely reminder that the Republicans should go over Obama’s Spending Cliff.
Washington is a cesspool
I saw that.
Ed Schultz on Dem channel says its a big victory for O and Dems should go for it.
Sharpton loves it too.
But R Trumka AFL-CIO says he is against it because it gives away too much to Rs.
What sucks is that Obama with lots of Rs help made this whole fight sound like it was about tax cuts for the rich, and that it is all Rs care about, that ‘the rich’ get more tax cuts.
So what Obama got is a bunch of spending extensions, what did the Rs get for that Dem spending? Extended tax cut rates from the first $250K of income that O demanded to $400K of income.
You know what would have put Obama and Dems whole game plan into a confused tizzy? For Rs to Offer to extend tax cut rates to ONLY first $100K of income in return for no extension of unemployment comp or tax credits for those who pay no taxes. No extensions of spending.
How would he explain that to his Dem base ??
Obama tagged Rs as only caring for the rich. Well Rs could have stood for deficit reduction instead of that, and let O own the economic results. But they never cared about deficits.
There is still the debt limit fight. So its not over yet
It's the ONLY way to get serious spending cuts and a few lower income democrats into the taxpayer lane. If we DON'T go over, all this country gets is more tax slavery. The cliff is the only answer unless we want to carry the entire, massive and growing by the minute burden by ourselves while the left wing freeloaders carry on with their sloth.
The House should embrace the fact the Senate has reached a deal, and say, “we will consider it, amend it, and go to conference.”
Too bad they’re not interested in what’s good for the country. Just winning at all costs.
Huge win for Obama = Obama now owns this economy.
“A big win for America.”
So Ed thinks taking on $20 trillion in debt is a win for America? The idiot does not deal in reality.
Wow, I actually agree with this prick....
Obama's retiring after this gig's over... we're the ones left holding the bag.
Ed Schultz is a slut.
liberals think that massive debt spending is good for America for some reason
just like everyone else on TV?
No...there's no one to "fight" with the 1-Party system in Washington today....
Americans who are parasites on others for their very existence were the bulk of those voting (D), Straight-Ticket, to keep the handouts flowing....
They've run up debts that can NEVER be paid, on the backs of Consumers/Taxpayers, and only all the guns and ammo being sold in the past 5 years+ are gonna change things when the welfare checks and handouts stop flowing.
Well lucky for us *our side* doesn’t care about winning, *we* don’t care about actually beating O. *we* are very happy losing and whining about it.
*we* only care about symbolic votes like the 33 House votes repealing O care, or all the symbolic House votes we will see against this tax cut extension. Voting 'no' on so much stuff that passes into law is just so rewarding.
Seriously? Don't we know that the Republicans will cave once again?
The sooner they bankrupt the free enterprise country, the sooner they can start building the socialist utopia.
Does this puffy-faced scumbag Shultz not realize that the “deal” hasn’t passed yet?
His gloating is certain to help get it passed, lol.
The fight may not be over but it's over for the GOP and likely over for this great nation of ours.
Imagine John Boehner in a game of Chess. Geez!
You seriously posting this crap? This buffoon and a lefty tool on MSNBC spinning for the Left is news now on FR?
Sure, we don’t like this deal and want this deal. What better deal can we get with this Senate and POTUS? Please educate me on the parameters of the deal and how it would pass both houses and be signed into law.
Don’t blather please.
Someone should remind Special Ed about the $1 trillion in Obamacare taxes that kick in .... tomorrow. Big time hangover, rats!
What game would you have played and what result would you have gotten? Please educate me.
building it with slave labor because there won’t be any money left
I'm not an elected official. Not my job. I'm just a voter and I did not vote for increased taxes with NO cuts.
Boehner managed to get himself and the party between a rock and a hard place. I see a SUPER majority coming in 2014.
I use that word ‘cave’ a lot too.
But do Republicans even know what they stand for?
To just oppose O on everything and then lose each fight by choosing fantasy instead of reality.
O wins because he commands public opinion something R side ignores.
Rs lose because they don't unite against Dems and they would rather live in a fantasy world then reality.
‘ All the polls showing Romney is losing are rigged’
‘Killing plan B is killing a tax increase’
This is delusion.
Yes, defining 'extending tax cuts' as 'tax increases' is a sure way of ending up losing.
One can only hope that there aren’t enough votes in the House to pass this piece of garbage legislation. No spending cuts? A tax increase? A cap gains tax increase? Kicking tough choices down the curb. What an fn joke.
Yes. Voters get one vote. Congressional leaders get to govern. This is the “best” outcome for now. Keep voting and keep fighting. Better policy outcomes will come by us staying involved and fighting. Not by continuously beating up our side.
Are you denying that? Be careful or they'll call you a "troll". Oh, I forgot, that group has dissapeared since election night.
Actually they have not dissapeared. They're now circling the wagons around John Boehner trying to convince us that Boehner's got the democrats and Obama over a barrel now.
That's exactly what they're doing.
I'm not a republican. I'm a registered Conservative.
Happy New Year. Enjoy!
We all need a political vehicle. ;)
If you see anyone posting that PLEASE ping me to it.
After being a lone voice here in 2009 to 2010 warning to get rid of Bohner I kind of feel sorry for him now.
The Republicans in the House, not even the most uber-uber conservative Tea partiers will challenge him to be Speaker themselves, because they no way want his job to be Speaker which is to be the Scape-goat for all the O wins, while they themselves instead get to hide in the back protecting themselves by voting their meaningless symbol ‘nos’, like all those symbolic repeals of O care.
Its pathetic, how about beating O for a change?
You mean the ones that Boehner's been purging?
< snip: He is Speaker of the House and is a direct line to become President. In that position, he represents everybody in this country.
Yes he does - but I get to vote for him you do not, and I can tell you we are all very proud of John. John is a true patriot and servant.
Id put John up against Newt, & Denny, any day as far as being a great speaker. You all can try to judge that John isnt doing a good job but what are comparing him too ? Everyone listens to blogs and media and assumes they understand the entire picture.... I would seriously doubt it.
Because he isnt doing what you want you would prefer to knock him down rather than try to support, particularly when you know he is an honest joe.
These blogs are great for folks to criticize from their couches. < end snip
Posting an article like this....where a liberal gets something correct once in a blue moon....is nothing compared to the attacks on the conservative WND posted on another thread about 12 hrs ago. I find the attacks on a conservative news website way more disturbing.
Obama is playing the RINOCons for fools.
“he didnt take the GOP leaders anywhere they didnt already want to go”
Good point. That reminds me of a pre-election 2012 article:
Seventy Seven Articles of Impeachment against Obama
Exactly, no way do any of them want that job themselves. That would be no fun at all.
You should challenge them to oppose him as Speaker by running for it , this losing and then scape-goating whining stuff is long past old.
