UNDATED (NBC) - As we say goodbye to 2012, we're also saying goodbye to a fixture in America's lighting fixtures: The 75-watt incandescent light bulb.
Under federal law, 75-watt bulbs can no longer be produced or imported as of January 1st, though retailers can still clear remaining stock.
**SNIP**
Traditional 60 and 40 watt bulbs will be phased out in 2014.
(Excerpt) Read more at ktiv.com ...
When they get to the 40 watt we may have on issue! The easy bake oven is now gender neutral and may be in jeopardy!!!!!
People are not only stupid but enjoy being told they are. We need these idiots in charge to tell us whats right and wrong. A community organizer and a bartender handed over to court jester joe and shell shocked Mcconnel behind closed doors making descisions on how much money they will be taking from us to support the give me crowd. Im dizzy
Idiotic. Thinking the Earth will cool depending on what light bulb you use.
Only for effeminate journalists who support President Obama.
Hmmmm ... I sense a market for screw-in adapters that will hold two 60;s or 40’s, converting a standard lamp base to a 120- or 80-watt lamp. Might require a new lamp shade, though.
Here you cannot buy 60 watt.
Of course, I have stocks to last out my life.
We, too, have hundreds of light bulbs in the basement!
Just start buying up all the 60’S and 40’s you can find.i am running out of space
Come to Canada. 100’s and 75’s still available, for now. Full flush toilets too!
Next is cutting down on electrical devices, like kitchen appliances and computers.
In Norway, you can’t buy countertop icecube-makers, for example. Because they’re “wasteful”. That is likely to be a test case, more things will follow. The libs may be aiming at a license to buy computers according to need, which would neatly decapitate any wildflowering internet activity.
I use a 75 watt over the kitchen sink and in the light in the overhead in the living room using a rheostat(spl). I have not changed the one in the living room in over ten years and the one over the kitchen sink is going on 5 years.I only run them at about 30 % continualy and they seem to last forever.
You could make a killing with a black market light bulb operation. I know I’d buy.
“I thought this crap got reversed.”
I did too.
Our local Walmart has been selling 100w all year long. Since we prepped for this and stocked up, we’ll probably never have to buy another 100w bulb for the rest of our lives.
Supposedly, “rough service” incandescent bulbs are available in all ratings.
..light has been going out of the world for some time now—Happy New Year...
Well, they do have a point insofar as a filled ice cube tray, left outdoors, would freeze. (This is Norway we're talking about here.) But, then again, to the extent that heat there is electric, any watt of heat that doesn't come out of a lightbulb or an appliance, comes out of the radiator instead, for the net result in zero savings of energy.
This shows there is nothing, absolutely nothing, too small for the Fed to stick its nose in and regulate. They can’t balance a budget within a trillion dollars of the mark, but they sure love to micromanage.
Nah. Eventually they impose "Smart Meters" which will be centrally controlled to ration power to each dwelling and business.
"You say your electricity doesn't work? Well comrade, according to our records you've already used up your watt allotment and it's only the 21st of the month! You'll just have to be become more green!"
(they say 'green' but it sounds like 'red' to me)
Whose original idea was this?
“Gee, I know! Lets ban the incandescent light bulb!”
Loaded up on 75-watters yesterday at Lowe`s.
What about all the people who have overhead fans with a light dimmer? The dimmer doesn’t work with compact florescents.
Same thing with any light that has a dimmer; so all of them are now worthless?
I’ve noticed there’s 150 watt bulbs and 75 watt bulbs but zero 100 watt bulbs. I didn’t know the phaseout was watt related.
Can't freeze water outdoors since a bird might poop in it.
Or the birds and other animals might see the water reflecting and crash or drown trying to get a drink.
What about hibernation and birds flying south for winter, you ask?
What if a bird was detained at TSA and missed their flight? Rumor has it that they are , err... bird brains.
Why, if it only saves one sparrow or passenger pigeon ...
You can buy a $15 LED bulb that will work in the dimmer. Made in China.
Ive noticed theres 150 watt bulbs and 75 watt bulbs
The 150 is still legal although only "single pack" sales, and they consider it an assault bulb only to be used for "specialty" purposes.
Whose original idea was this?
He who controls the energy, controls the world. The same goes with water, food, medicine, and money.
Here's the ugly truth - you're energy footprint is very closely correlated with how much money you spend every year. It has almost NOTHING to do with what kind of light bulb you use.
It's another liberal dog whistle - - a way they show their hatred of middle class traditional families without having to take responsibility for their hatred.
It's time to consider two countries - they won't have to fight us to win all the things they want - and we won't have to argue with them about our position.
Liberals can have ALL of the following:
Unlimited gun control laws.
Unlimited immigration from third world countries.
A minimum wage of $50 an hour.
Taxes on the ‘rich’ of 90% to 98%.
Anyone can vote as ofter as they want to... no ID required.
Teachers have life time appointments - even if they can't pass a simple reading test.
“Marriage” is something between any groups or species or whatever. Anything and everything goes...
Krugman of the New York Times can run the economy - and borrow money from the world until (red state) debt is a million to one.
***********************************************************************
OUR SIDE can have traditional values...
Our side can have newspapers that work to win the respect and trust of their readers rather than working for liberal ‘prizes’ to adorn their office walls.
Citizens can keep the Constitution we have now - and ALL of the Bill of Rights.
Voter ID etc. etc. It's time to consider two countries. They don't like to fight with us - we don't like to fight with them. They can 'have it all' and so can we. Time for a divorce.
We get all the watts we want here in Panama. They are made in India and find their way here.
India also makes DDT. We need to get some DDT here in Panama.
Happy New Year Walt. This Nation has taken a turn and the idiots asking for it will pay dearly. I refuse to speak to any liberal, including family. I will not subject myself to any twisted logic they bring. No understanding of what our world is about is the reason.
Panama? Isn’t the frickin’ sun out about 23 hours a day? Why the need for bulbs?
I bought full flush toilets in a few years ago. Needed them to replace the short(s) had in my house. I buy light bulbs in Canookistan too. The up-side of living near the border.
The down-side is that the pipes freeze so the 'full-flush' jubilation is put on hold until spring? (Please excuse the comments. My New Years celebration just kicked in. And oh, it's gonna be good...)
Umm, no thank you. I am clean at the border, and I intend to stay that way. You want the bulbs, come and get them.
LOL!!!
You are thinking of Alaska.
“Canookistan”? What are you referring to? What exactly is that supposed to mean?
By the way, Mexico also gets its WATTS imported from India.
Instead of running drugs to the U.S., Mexico should think of running WATTS to the States.
I used to live in the land of the free and the home of the braves.
I'm not so sure now...
Are 100’s gone already?
Yeah. I bet. DDT made Panama livable, no?
Start smuggling light bulbs in and they will really close the borders.

Also, you can buy dishwasher detergent with phosphates here: www.bubblebandit.com
Now if I could just find a way to import full flush toilets from Canada and full water usage washers from Mexico, I would be a happy gal. We already know how to remove the water saver device from faucets and showerheads.
Thank you for the link. Yes, I wish we could import good toilets. My low water toilet is the bane of my existence.
Go to home depot, buy a larger multi gallon tank, and a rubber washer to seal to the toilet, and a new float valve mechanism. set the foloat valve to the highest level prior to spill over, and vioa, you once again have a multi gallon flusher!
Best get a new wall valve as well, they go bad and leak when messed with.
Thank you. I’m hoping to remodel the bathroom, including getting a new toilet. I’m all thumbs with plumbing, but a local plumber I use may be willing to make the fix.
You also live in the land of the parasites. This is not a criticism of your country, simply an observation. You live in a free society and that society has chosen this road.
It scares me, too.
If I ran a store that sold light bulbs I’d request a voter registration card. Democrats would not be able to purchase incandescent bulbs of any wattage.
If anybody thinks I'm going to vote for Jeb in 2016, they're out of their minds!
Nanny State PING!
