After an election year in which legislative business practically ground to a halt, Congress is poised to make up for lost time in 2013.
The new Congress will begin its next session with an agenda expected to focus largely on issues that re-emerged over the past several weeks and months, with gun legislation and immigration reform near the top.
Though fiscal issues will remain a priority, how much work lawmakers put into them depends on whether, or to what extent, President Obama and congressional Republicans resolve the fiscal crisis in the closing days of this session.
A basic deal to prevent some of the $600 billion mix of tax increases and automatic spending cuts from kicking in Jan. 1 would still leave the 113th Congress to address debt ceiling and tax code issues.
But in the near term, immigration legislation appears to be high on the docket in the next Congress and second Obama administration term.
Washington has tried for years to change the country's immigration policy -- to strengthen border security and stem the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S.; to reform the visa system for the benefit of those legal immigrants following the rules; and figure out how to address the millions of illegal immigrants already here.

Most Americans describe themselves as “conservative”.
Yet we have absolutely NO representation in DC anywhere. :(
So in other words they want to disarm the public while giving foreign invaders amnesty. Foreign invaders who could be anything.. killers, rapists, child predators.. not that we will ever know. We’ll just have to hope they don’t attack us like they did this guy whose foreign invading killer has yet to be caught when he high-tailed it back to Mexico.
Pray for our leaders, er, rulers.
Those are my top priorities too. Unfortunately, I don’t think the anti-American communist in our White House has the same perspective on those critical issues as any decent American would have.
Fox news, eh? I’m sure that Murdoch would like to have our Congress debate those three issues as a basket of compromises in order to violate your Second Amendment right. So would federally funded local government interests, which constituency lies about being conservative while trying to get control of more federal spending and funneling it to itself (bad as the other, more ostensibly socialist side: wanting a VAT tax, wanting socialist state bosses to elect government, etc.).
IMO, “go Galt.” Avoid spending, become more self-sufficient, get technical, and so on. Rebuild, after the fascists cause the consequences of their robberies (e.g., default).
