Skip to comments.Graham: Vote yes but fight on debt ceiling
Posted on 01/01/2013 11:56:28 AM PST by Uncle Chip
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) urged House Republicans to accept a fiscal cliff deal passed by the Senate early Tuesday morning and to prepare to extract concessions from Democrats in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.
If the House fails to pass the deal, Graham told Fox News, Were going to get blamed and about two weeks into this, well fold like a cheap suit. Instead, he urged Republicans, Work with me and others never to raise the debt ceiling again unless we address why were in so much debt. Graham made a similar comment to the National Review, saying, Its not all I would have liked, but its called American democracy, so on to the debt ceiling.
And on Twitter, he wrote, The debt ceiling fight is where we can make major spending changes and prevent the country from becoming Greece.
Graham is up for reelection in 2014, and he could face a tough primary challenge from the right. Hes clearly seeking to make the case to conservatives that Tuesday mornings vote doesnt mean caving on spending.

Shut up, Lindsey. If my R Congresscritter votes for this turd of a deal I’ll spend the next two years campaigning for his opponent, regardless of party.
ugh! what a stupid reason to vote for it... just don’t fold like a cheap suit... EVER!
Some people are consider enough to write their own epitaphs.
Give the dems what they want and we will win later?????
G00ber Graham, the only debt ceiling concessions the republicaves are going to extract will be from themselves.
You useless loser.
Any expletive towards this troll should include his full legal name: Senatwat Goober Lindsack Grahmnesty shut the f*%k up.
that sounds just like “vote for xxxxx (R) first, and then hold his feet to the fire later”.
Time to primary this idiot Grahamasty.
the news media is playing chess and this idiot words fail me
HT Mark and Rush of course...with some original material of my own.
Doesn’t matter even if R’s stand up on the debt ceiling.
The tipping point was passed years ago and no one has the courage to inflict the pain necessary to avoid a fiscal collapse. It’s all about stalling now.
Young people hardest hit, for reals.
NO. Take another shove up the ass from Reid.
Lil Lindsy is a politicomasochist. He enjoys being abused by democrats.
So let’s recap:
In exchange for increased taxes and spending the Republicans get to sit and listen to Mr Obama call them naves.
I think that’s just about as good a deal as they can expect. I’d take it.
Hey GOP House ,Vote NO on this debacle of a bill.
There is no stupid media “fiscal cliff” to avoid.
Grahamnesty is a total idiot and needs to be primaried
How about vote ‘no’ and start over? Waiting for the debt ceiling debate takes too long and is a waste of time. The moment is now. (Pssssst - that’s why they call it a cliff.)
Republicans CAVEX13 Idiots!
Yup, STFU Lindsay! The Senate bill massively increases gov’t spending and fiscal deficits.
What is the news media’s stupid “fiscal cliff”?
What is so different now from previous yea4r, that the country will go over a cliff ?
the news media came up with this “fiscal cliff” bs and people think the Earth with be hit by a meteor of something if the Republicans don’t surrender to some stupid bills. ridiculous. no one questions the media and just accept the false reality the media create.
