Two killed in Mission shooting suspect crash

San Francisco -- A driver fleeing from a police traffic stop crashed into a vehicle in San Francisco's Mission District Tuesday morning, killing a female passenger in the second car and a pedestrian outside a corner store.

The suspect suffered minor injuries while the driver of the other vehicle, a white Toyota, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Police Chief Greg Suhr.

The crash occurred at about 8 a.m. at the corner of 21st Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

Less than 15 minutes earlier, police responded to reports of shots fired from a black Chevrolet Impala at the Valencia Gardens housing project at 14th and Guerrero streets. About five minutes later, officers spotted a vehicle matching that description several blocks away and pulled it over, Suhr said.

They were probably bad guys, but I used to live right there, and I must say that is the MOST CORRUPT police precinct that I have ever dealt with —like 80% of them are Mexicans (the better to deal with their “frequent flyers”, I guess) and they have resolved to work in almost the exact manner they would be, were they working south of the border.

A HUGE eye-opener.

Salinas is almost tame, by comparison.

Obviously a fake story, everybody knows only the saintly police have guns in the enlightened utopia of California.

Must be another attack on the oppressed minorities by the evil rich 1%.

After what happened in Connecticut with dozens of 6 year old children and adults murdered...This seems rather mild.....

My young son lost an 11 year old school mate on Christmas Day in an auto crash. Same thing - middle of the day, gang banger stopped by the police and then raced away in his SUV, crashing into a family filled van returning home from ice skating on Christmas Day. The 11 yo and his 26 yo cousin were killed outright. His mom, 16 yo sister, and dad (driver) survived with serious injuries, the most serious being broken hearts on the most wonderful day of the year.
The gang banger and his three passengers are suspected in the murder earlier in the day of a gang outreach community worker.

THAT is the housing project they're talking about...! When I lived in the Mish I used to pass there all the time, and I didn't even know it was a project.

You know what? That is BETTER than the place I lived in, and I had to pay everything myself. The people must be rotten there, but hey, they pay nothing...? Probably...

Man, that makes me really mad...

“Obviously the NRA’s fault.”

Much easier to blame the NRA (even when no guns were involved in the homicides) than face the down side of being a “sanctuary city”.

Just another liberal-run enclave where reality is not permitted to intrude.

Not to me. If it was my family or friend killed by the gang banger in that car, I would feel it was as horrific as anyone else’s loss. Numbers of victims should not define the tragedy or the effects on those remaining behind.

The liberal Bay Area is a very violent place

15-year-old girl gunned down in Oakland
Carolyn Jones
Monday, December 31, 2012

A pile of flowers, candles, teddy bears and farewell notes grew by the hour Monday afternoon on a quiet street in East Oakland, but they were little comfort to Mike Harris.

Harris, whose longtime family friend Jubrille Jordan, 15, was fatally shot at the site Sunday afternoon, was awash in tears as he surveyed the makeshift memorial.

“She was my sweetheart. They killed my sweetheart,” said Harris, a neatly dressed man in his 50s, as he wiped his eyes. “What happened? I don’t know, I don’t know.”

Jubrille was Oakland’s 12th child killed in 2012, and its 131st homicide victim in one of the city’s deadliest years in recent memory.

It happened on a sunny afternoon on a relatively quiet street, while Jubrille was standing with friends and a baby. The group was on the sidewalk on Lion Way near 66th Avenue - a quiet complex of townhouses and community gardens- when another group approached and started firing just after 3:30 p.m.

The baby, a friend’s, was unharmed, but a 14-year-old boy in the group was struck in the foot, and Jubrille died at the scene, police said. She was apparently not the intended target, friends and family said.
Gunman sought

Police said Monday that the suspect is a teenage boy in a red T-shirt, armed with a handgun.

Although they revealed few details of the shooting because the investigation is ongoing, Police Chief Howard Jordan said much of Oakland’s crime is an endless cycle of retaliation between two main gangs battling over drugs, money and occasionally girlfriends.

Last July, another teenager was killed in the same complex. Hadari Askari, 15, who was enrolled in an Oakland Fire Department training program, was gunned down after a short chase by hooded assailants.

“We as a community and as a police department need to do a better job protecting our young people,” Jordan said Monday afternoon. “2013 will be the year we no longer accept this level of senseless violence.”

Partially in response to Jubrille’s killing, Jordan outlined on Monday the steps police are taking to curb violent crime, including hiring dozens more officers.

Jubrille’s death was especially hard on his department because so many officers have teens of their own, he said.

“This one hit us hard,” he said, noting that he has two teen daughters. “We’re turning every stone, every rock to bring justice to whoever did this.”

Lion Creek Crossing was quiet Monday afternoon, except for those coming to pay their respects to Jubrille at the spot she died.

So, you believe that losing your loved one would not feel as tragic to you as the loss in Connecticut? There is no reason to try to compare people’s grief. I was horrified by the school shooting. I am also horrified by this. Why is that wrong? This event is mild because it did not involve a number of small children? I guess I am able to empathize with all of the victims and their families. Neither is mild. Sorry to disappoint.
