Staring into the abyss of the fiscal cliff deadline, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann introduced legislation Monday that would rescind the portion of President Obama’s executive order that gives members of Congress a pay raise.

“At a time when families across the country are cutting back we should not increase government spending and add to the debt burden by giving members of Congress a pay raise," the Minnesota Republican said.

The announcement came as House leaders indicated they would not have a budget deal done by the midnight deadline, plunging the nation off the fiscal cliff.

Silly Michele, our constituents expect Pork taken from the other segments of the country. You don't expect US to work for Per Diem like we used to, do you?

Why hold back? Congress should be arrested and imprisoned.

I haven’t looked, but I would guess Mrs. Bachmann voted for every budget and increase in the debt limit when the R’s were in charge.

I think they should very publicly refuse the money as individuals. If they can’t do that they should distribute it evenly among the county treasuries in their districts.

They’re still bitching because my congressman is still sleeping in his office to save money.

For every $1B in spending cuts they get $1. Pay for performance.

The constitution itself says no change in pay may be made until an election shall have intervened.

I don’t think the republicans have held all 3 branches since she’s been in office. She’s just starting her 3rd term.

Every single one of them should have their pay reduced by 25¢ for every $1 million in deficit spending we incur.

“Every single one of them should have their pay reduced by 25¢ for every $1 million in deficit spending we incur.”

They would then each owe 250 BILLION dollars. That would be negative pay. Not saying I disagree just saying. 25% of 1 trillion is 250 billion. Congressional representatives may be rich but they are not that rich!

The total for that plan would over 100 TRILLION dollars gained by the treasury. That would mean there would be no need for any taxes of any kind for 7 to 10 years!

Bachmannn is a heretic. Sacrifice is for the great unwashed, not the privileged class in D.C.

Maybe we should start offering bounties for spending cuts.
