Futures haven’t even opened yet. Probably at 3 AM EST.

Likely gap up, but we’ll see how long the euphoria lasts. Highs can be made on “good” news.

Unless it's a tax cut for everybody it's class warfare and a betrayal of conservative principals.

God help Mick Mulvaney (my congressman) if HE voted yes.

RE :”I’m a bit puzzled. Grover Norquist doesn’t think it’s that awful.”

LOL, thanks for the :) on this sad night.

Grover is more of a realist than he is made out to be, and that I thought 6 weeks ago.

When he admitted that plan B was NOT raising taxes he was admitting that taxes were going up automatically Jan 1 if nothing is signed into law.

Even Grover didnt want to raise taxes out of spite just because Rs could NOT stop some taxes from going up. He is against raising taxes.

On Jan 1 Obama’s $250K demand was a tax cut, DUHHHH!

House Rs should have extended some of them many weeks ago and moved on to the next fight.

House Speaker John Boehner – Office Phone Number: 202-225-6205

Call and leave a nasty voicemail. It won’t matter, but you’ll at least clue him in that his days are numbered.

I never thought the same of Paul Ryan after watching him allow that idiot Biden ridicule and shame him during the debates and tell lie after lie.

We’ll be sending an interesting guy from Texas up in the next Congress. Our new Senator is Ted Cruz. During the primaries the Republican establishment fell behind a Rino and branded Cruz a Tea Party candidate. Instead of running away with from it, he embraced it - and won!

But I know how Washington works.

We’re sending up a new Senator with a spine and ‘attachments.’ We’ll see how long he can keep them in that cesspool.

I really hope it will be at least four years before I’m positing here:

“Cruz voted yes.”

“What a joke he turned out to be.”

And they are stupid. They all knew this was coming because they made that happen by not doing anything LAST YEAR!

Worse than Keystone Cops!

And, as usual, all the RINO pundits (Kristol, Krauthammer, et al) say “best they can do...better than fiscal cliff...saves majority from raising taxes” blah, blah, blah.

The GOP was played yet again. Time for these fools to go. They are totally useless.

FU CONGRESS! Try a budget morons. Stop pretending every single dime spent by the federal government is nirvana!

I know....and it is so frustrating. But u have to point that out when speaking of the republicans. This bill stopped my taxes from going up but was just over talking to my neighbors...it will not stop her and her husbands from going up. However they knew when Obama won that that would be the case.

Anything can happen in the Washington Sausage Factory. But I am celebrating the positive news for me in the middle class, for now.

It amazes me that McConnell was able to make middle class tax rates PERMANENT when the republicans could not do it when they held all 3 branches during Bush-43.

Unfortunately, true.

But more unfortunately, Ryan is one of the most fiscally conservative in all of government.

You have to pick the players that are in the stadium.

Having said that, I’m done with Ryan.

I think I’ll consider being an irrelevant Third Party purist now.

he didn’t make anything permanent. taxes can be changed at any time. he did remove those expiration dates, but that doesn’t mean they’re permanent. you’re implying it’s now illegal to change tax rates or something.

besides, the middle class rates were never really going to go back up. Obama and the dems never would havelet it stand, but the GOP was too afraid to take them on over it and find it out.

Yes, they are now Permanent in the sense when Bush signed them in law, it was written to expire in 2010. It got a temporary extension of 2 years.

The new FC law has NO EXPIRATION DATE. That does not mean future politicians can’t change it.

“permanent tax cuts”

The only permanent tax cut - and that would be an income tax cut only, I suspect - would be a repeal of the 16th amendment and insistence that the States follow suit...the idea being that any income tax at any level of government undermines a republican form of government.

The federal government can and should be fully funded via the corporate income tax, tariffs, excises and duties, and maybe dividends/capital gains taxes. The rates of these taxes should be reasonable, not punitive, and intended to fund the legitimate constitutional functions of the federal government. I suspect one could easily fund defense spending, federal courts and foreign affairs with this money. If we want to give money to any other country for any reason, the federal government should take up a voluntary citizen contribution for the purpose.

Of course, without a full audit and reform of the FED, including taking away its power to tax via inflation, income tax cuts are truly almost meaningless.

You are absolutely right, that taxes can be changed at any time in future. However as the FC law is written there is NO EXPIRATION date. So we will take it. Better than the other option.

I believe Rand Paul passes the fiscal conservative purity contest, hands down. I do like Ryan, but even his plan cut nothing, reportedly, though it was brilliant. They’re all living and thriving off of us, with enough left over to buy votes from those who pay no taxes, or do not work.

Short of a rebellion, we are all quite done. Anything less is more theater.
