Who knew Elvis Costello's drummer was such a powerhouse? And at the 2:10 mark, Val McCallum channels his inner Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Stevie Ray learned to sing from Doyle Bramhall who played drums in Double Trouble.

Wow! Thank you for that link! I’ve seen it in google searches but never clicked it. I was looking for radio stations in a remote city in the Amazon but no luck. I concluded that maybe they did not have any stations there until I clicked on your link. Now I;m listening. Thanks!

Also out of Austin, Texas is:

The Sword

You won't hear them on alt.country radio. They're heavy metal. Pandora hooked me up to these guys. Never heard of them before but Pandora started played the hell outta them based on my musical tastes. After a few times, they grew on me. Again, good stuff!

If you like old school '80s Scorpions, Priest or Maiden, check these dudes out. They bring the goods!

Saw The Sword back in 2006. Headliner was Early Man.

KOKE FM in Austin is my vote for the best. The only independently owned FM station in at least Texas, plus Bob Cole and his crew that used to be on KVET here in town. The original KOKE FM was the station that started the whole red dirt radio music craze and was the one that gave so many of the country music outlaws a place to get some air-time. Listen in on them at http://kokefm.com/ . The crew is pretty conservative and since they own the station rather than a company, they can give their opinion whenever they durn well please.
