On The Road To Athens
1/2/2013 | Self

Posted on 01/01/2013 11:14:53 PM PST by Nextrush

"Thank You America" was the theme of a commercial I saw on the Rose Bowl Game telecast yesterday.

The bailed out AIG was singing the praises of our tax dollars being pumped into their company from a nation that is now trillions of dollars more in debt than it was before bailouts like theirs were pushed through Congress.

The pushing through Congress of band aids like the bailouts and now the new legislation called the "Taxpayer Relief Act" will not stop the trillions of dollars in debt from continuing to expand until new band aids will be needed.

Who is responsible for all this?

The business and political leaders of our country are certainly on the list. Democrats and yes Republicans, too.

They don't want to face the consequences of spending that is bankrupting the country so just paper it all over with "quantitative easing" or this latest band aid that is "saving us from the fiscal cliff".

But perhaps many of us out here need to face reality.

I've make mistakes that cost money in my own life and I've piled up debt loads that I felt ashamed of.

Some weeks ago Glenn Beck observed that he can't change things in the world or even change things about his family members, but he can change things about himself.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."

The Serenity Prayer is one thing I can fall back on tonight as the nation's "leaders" continue to set us on the course to a Greek-Italian-Spanish-Irish European financial mess.

That's the sad end game as I see it.

Is politics a solution to this? The leaders of the parties rile up their supporters exploiting all their resentents and fears.

In the case of us conservatives, the GOP and their supporting cast of beltway insider groups- talk show hosts etc. etc. get us angry at Obama, Pelosi, Reid, labor unions, gun grabbers, liberals, big government and the list goes on.

Then they go ahead and cut deals with the above mentioned people and groups that not only leave us betrayed but disillusioned and fearful for the future of this nation.

I'm not going to resort to negative activity in response to the disaster of recent days. I want to stay sober and sane.

I want to do something positive and stand for something instead of being angry and resenting and even being afraid.

I'm past having my ears tickled and my anger aroused by talkers from Bill O'Reilly to Sean Hannity and others like even Rush Limbaugh who tells us to stay loyal to the GOP of his father and grandfather.

I'm not ready to start liking the liberals and the lefties, its just that I need to start a new track in opposing them.

So that's why I'm very open to the notion of a new political party of principle.....heck lets call it the "Liberty Party" as an example.

A party of for and by the people, not the big money that wants these band aids to keep the debt growing by trillions more in the years ahead.

A PARTY THAT WANTS GOVERNMENT DOWNSIZED FOR REAL. I'm past all the symbolic gimmicks politicians and groups dream up to keep us conservative slaves on the Republican plantation.

Back in the George W. Bush presidency, Rush Limbaugh had an on-air conversation with then White House aide and longtime GOP insider Ed Gillespie.

It went like this.

Rush talked about cutting the size of government and eliminating departments like education, energy etc. etc. Then Gillespie said: "That's not going to happen."

Well, its time for that to happen. Way past time for that to happen and more.

The vast majority of Republicans we have helped elect over the years have no desire to do that or anything else to immediately and quickly balance this nation's budget before it is too late.

A "Liberty Party" that brings Americans together on the platform of less government, less spending and a balanced budget immediately before it is too late is something I can support honestly and sincerely.

I'm tired of living in my anger resentment and fear aroused by talking heads on radio and television from elected officals to show hosts.

And to what end. A country that moves continuously to the Left and will collapse from an unsustainable debt in the future.

I know I can do better than I have in the past. I pray many of you will face your demons of addiction as I have and others like Glenn Beck have.

Lets simply tell our neighbors this spending spree cannot continue in a sincere and humble tone without being tied to an edifice that sustains the unsustainable system in Washington.

God Give Us Liberty and God Bless America.

I wanted to get a discussion going and I'll leave it at that.

Here in PA we have a very closed two party system and it will take a lot of push and shove to get a third party up and running.

Such a viable party does not exist, and I include the GOP in that.

Face it, it’s over. This country is over.

I hear you, but I can’t think so negative.

I have to think positive and take positive actions.

I have to keep my own house in order to be sure.

No drugs, alcohol, gambling or porn to relieve my pain.

There is pain to feel and go through tonight.

how would porn relieve pain? Seems like it would cause more problems than it solved

This isn’t that old George Jones and Tammy Wynette song “We’re Not The Jet Set.”

I’m thinking about something that Glenn Beck wrote about in the book “The Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life” he co-authored with Dr. Keith Ablow.

Glenn has dealt with alcohol in his life and he mentioned all the various addictions out there and I thought the reference to a variety of them might be helpful to those out there who use those things when they are depressed like many are tonight.

Nothing works on the Obama voter

Nominating a liberal Massachussetts Republican for President was a very stupid move, there was no energy in the GOP base for the grandfather of ObamaCare.

If there had been a real alternative offered, there might have been some excitement. We saw that in 1994 and in 2010, yet the GOPe leadership continues to ignore it.

Good subreference, love that old music. But i was referring to the Battle of Athens Tennessee, where citizens were forced to use rifles to set the republic right. It seems like the republic is now headed towards Athens Greece on a rocket sled. So i’m wondering if it will take the Athens Tennessee remedy to set the USA right again?

As I have been reading this article, once again Alexander Tyler’s predictions came to mind and it seems that the US in its descent has been proven his predictions to be right on target.

At the moment it appears that we are at stage number seven which states that we are going from apathy to dependence. In order to reverse this process it either may take an event of biblical proportions to shake people up, or this country has to hit bottom so hard to once again bring people to their senses. If nothing is going to change my feeling is that this country has bought it and continuous on its descent in to mediocrity and is well on its way to the trash heap of history like so many others before.

Just in case some of you who may not be familiar with Alexander Tyler you can Google his name.

Those thoughts certainly come to mind in these times.

Savage was on the radio tonight suggesting some new civil war may be in the offing.

I’m reading a history book on the years before the Civil War right now.

Lets not forget that Barack Obama speaks of Lincoln as his favorite among presidents.

Is there irony in that or some deliberation to create civil war conditions in the present?

I know not the truth, but keep the powder dry for now.

The side that overreacts with what the media will certainly characterize as “violence” gets the nose dive in public opinion losing the argument for freedom.

Lincoln distanced himself from the likes of John Brown, as an example.

Non-violent resistance may work better, but the media that sainthooded the Civil Rights protests about race in the 1960’s was less sympathetic to the Pro-Life Operation Rescue protests in the late 1980’s-early 1990’s.

Some other thoughts.

How did the Athens thing sort out back in the 1940’s?

I’m trying to remember.

I have a strong Pro-Life background in my political activism and I remember the guy who murdered that abortionist George Tiller.

He had left his wife and was living with a woman he wasn’t married to.

The guy was a law unto himself making his own rules and ignoring the ones my Higher Power set down.

A decision on using force is certainly a time to pause and consider one’s relationship to the rules about what’s right and wrong.

Dr. Martin Luther King resorted to using the force of non-violent protest with varying degrees of success and he had a secret sex life that was way out of control.

That is absolutely correct. An opportunity to build on conservative gains in 2010 was squandered. If there is going to be a viable conservative movement, it will have to be outside the GOP. The GOP-e will not allow it to grow within what is left of the Republican Party.

Yep, the America of the past 236 or so years is coming to a close with the GOP's likely cave on the debt ceiling. What emerges from the ashes of the coming collapse is up to We the People.

...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

The GOP doesn’t want to nominate someone who will fire up the base. For the simple reason the GOP doesn’t really support the views of the base.

Romney was, to them, a hard social and fiscal conservative. They will run someone to the left of him next time around.

Palin won’t run, for a variety of reasons. They are grooming Christie to be the next fall guy (who needs to lose a lot of weight before he is a viable national candidate).

We need to realize that the party has no use for us, and the feeling is mutual.

The elites are big on telegraphing their intents and using symbols to do it.
I and others said that obomas reenactment of abes inauguration meant something.
We will have another “civil” war on his watch

Battle of Athens, Tennessee via JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership)

http://jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/athens.htm

“On August 1-2, 1946, some Americans, brutalized by their county government, used armed force as a last resort to overturn it. These Americans wanted honest open elections. For years they had asked for state or federal election monitors to prevent vote fraud (forged ballots, secret ballot counts and intimidation by armed sheriff’s deputies) by the local political boss. They got no help.”
