A 2013 Conservative Call to Arms
American Thinker ^ | Jan. 2, 2013 | Rob Cunningam

In 2013, conservatives can offer no greater tribute of respect to our Founding Fathers and our fellow citizens than to resolve, from this day forward, to relentlessly expose, ridicule, deride, mock and publicly shame arrogant progressives in a manner that, for the first time in our adult lifetimes, communicates this one undeniable founding truth: America was never supposed to be this way.

The progressive left's ultimate weapon of choice in emasculating America's strength has clearly and undeniably been outed as radical debt accumulation. Progressives have masterfully promoted the toxic falsehood that infinite government money, services, and benefits exist simply for the asking, restricted only by evil Republicans, greedy conservatives, business charlatans, religious fundamentalists, and homophobic, racist members of the Tea Party. Inept GOP politicians have long served as perfect foils in the progressive movement's war against our Constitution, private property rights, and individual liberties. The Republican Party's pathetic capitulation under pressure apparently stems from little more than fear of media influenced opinion polls and the threat those polls might hold for their continued participation in "the game." As a result of miserable GOP leadership failures and misplaced voter trust, the voices of true conservatism have been virtually eradicated from politics at the federal level.

As conservatives, we must continuously learn, practice, and freely share combat communication skills that penetrate the hearts of self-righteous, progressive zealots like hollow point, truth tipped bullets. Brilliant examples of gifted rhetorical marksmen include Dennis Miller, Greg Gutfeld, and Mark Steyn. We must creatively endeavor to rebrand conservatism as "cool" while simultaneously branding irresponsible, bloated government spending as one of the most disgusting, grotesque, and criminally negligent behaviors in our society. All those advocating for expansion of our national debt or annual deficits should be awarded societal status on par with child rapists, which in effect

America's brilliant, visionary Founders courageously pledged their "life, liberty and sacred honor" for their deeply held beliefs. It would be dangerously naïve for conservatives to believe we could never again find ourselves needing to make a similar pledge. I, for one, am not willing to stand by as progressives push my back to the wall.

” to relentlessly expose, ridicule, deride, mock and publicly shame arrogant progressives”

Let’s give them Saul Alinsky right back, in other words.

We need Jack Bauer type “special communication agents” (from the show “24”) in every zip code, every Tea Party, every 9/12 Group, every neighborhood and if possible, every household and classroom. We need to shame EVERY person pushing “Political Correctness” and aggressively shut them down!

BTTT.

We also need leaders who can direct, inspire, defend, thrust, parry and debate the enemy under the table.

Mr. Cunningham is correct.

We have reached a tipping point on many levels in America this very moment.

Ridicule & sarcasm are powerful weapons. And heaven knows the Left has provided enough targets.

We have reached a tipping point on many levels in America this very moment.

...you got that right, and this "tipping point" is one that may not be overcome.

The "progressives" have finally, after about 100 years, achieved their objective of putting in place a voting block which will mindlessly vote for the "progressive" agenda every time, no matter what. Its the now famous 47% which turns out to be more like 52% which insures us a welfare class.

The welfare class are ignorant, greedy people who NEVER pay attention to the news, don't give a rat's ass about honor, integrity, dignity or any other positive human trait...their only aim is to get as much free stuff as possible. They whine and moan loudly when they don't get it, and their 'rat leaders listen, and give them what they "demand".

It is a disgusting situation in which we find ourselves....and I see no way out...no amount of exposure, ridicule, derision , mockery or public shame will make any difference...

...THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO SHAME....

The only way to "fix" the problem now is to find a way to make the welfare vote not count.....if no income tax is paid, no vote....do what Pres Zer0 wants, no "skin in the game" no participation in the rules....

>>....another way is to infiltrate the Democrat party. There is no reason right now which keeps conservative Republicans from switching parties to become conservative Democrats and have a voice in the party. Change the Democrats from within. The welfare people would have no clue what is happening since they NEVER pay attention to what is actually going on...only mindlessly vote D.

"relentlessly expose, ridicule, deride, mock and publicly shame arrogant progressives in a manner that, for the first time in our adult lifetimes, communicates this one undeniable founding truth: America was never supposed to be this way."

This past Christmas I spent time with my brother who introduced me to Jon Stewart. He has several choice Jon Stewart episodes recorded that he showed me.

This guy, Jon Stewart, is extremely talented at doing to conservatives precisely what the quoted paragraph above correctly opines we should be doing to "progressives". He deftly and mercilessly roasts the conservative's tactics in a way that is hilarious and totally believable to the less informed viewer. He is an extremely talented entertainer and comedian behaving as a news reporter and political commentator and is enormously engaging.

As I was watching him, I was thinking that "This guy is REALLY getting his leftist message across" and that we (conservatism) have nothing even close to this guy.

I don't have a clue how conservatives could possibly counter the effectiveness of Jon Stewart's spew, the truth is obviously not working, at least all by itself it isn't.

If an extremely talented conservative counterpart were to emerge, he (or she) certainly wouldn't be granted the venue that Stewart enjoys.

There are bound to be extremely witty conservative performers out there who could balance this guy and this genre to some degree, and surely there are producers that would see the profit in a conservative counterpoint? Maybe in India?

What Mr Cunningham is advocating is being done in the blogosphere, talk radio and the likes of FR. These media are only selected by those interested. The MSM is so entrenched with the rest of the apolitical and the political left that it will take extreme violence to ever get balance of information to a majority of voters.

The Democrat Party, now owned by the Communists, and the Republican Party, whose significance is not apparent to me, are only interested in power, not America.

I agree with most of this but it’s really not about branding. It’s about doing what’s right, which will never be “cool.”

Hey! A significant portion of that 47% are wealthy corporate cronies who are bent on “pulling up the ladder.” They are greedy, but they are not ignorant and know how to work the levers of government to their own benefit.

Look at how incredible Rush Limbaugh did with his TV show - not because he was exactly camera friendly and an expert on TV, but he WAS intelligent, witty and filled an enormous VOID in the marketplace. Ditto Glenn Beck. As soon as Matt Drudge got “controversial” on his Fox News TV Show, the “Bigs” canned him. Amazing what the left gets away with, without standards, and the conservatives are crucified for being even 10% as controversial.

Thanks for your response!
