Sources: Enough Republicans Willing to Unseat Speaker Boehner

“At least 20 House Republican members have gotten together, discussed this and want to unseat Speaker Boehner--and are willing to do what it takes to do it,” Meyer said. “That’s more than enough to get the job done, but the one problem these guys face is they need a leader to coalesce behind.”

Meyer said the conservatives have considered House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) to take the helm after Boehner is knocked out. His opposition from the right to the Senate fiscal cliff deal that Vice President Joe Biden cut with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a sign Cantor may try for the job.

AMA is hardly the only conservative entity aware of the rekindled effort afoot to unseat Boehner. Another conservative with inside knowledge of the effort told Breitbart News that the movement has "new focus and juice," and if enough members go to Boehner telling him they won’t support his re-election, that Americans should “watch for him to resign gracefully.”

The vote for Boehner’s re-election as Speaker happens on Thursday, two days after Boehner’s decision to support the Senate "fiscal cliff" deal Vice President Joe Biden cut with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on New Year’s Eve.

"Even if they reelect Pelosi to Speaker--"

Be careful what we wish for. I believe the Rats have 201 seats in the new House. Are there 17 Rino's willing to switch in an effort to shut out the Tea party caucus?

Boehner did not ride the Tea Party wave into Congress in 2010, he did nothing I know of that can be considered aligned with the Tea Party issues and yet he is Speaker only because the Tea Party enabled the GOP to take control of Congress.

What has he ever ***done*** (not just words) that gives conservatives confidence? How did he ever get to be Speaker? He would not be Speaker if it were not for the Tea Party groups.

They’d d***ed well better.

If Bonehead is there in the house(very small “h” intended) in any capacity other than cleaner of urinals and toilets, I shall actively campaign against ANY republican. At least dim-bulb-crats have the cojones to declare their idiocy...Bonehead doesn’t have the courage to even do that. Shove it Boehner, shove it up your smelly Obama (which is obviously quite large, since Obama’s been having you daily.)

I’ve had it with the party of no cojones.

May they all go directly to the very hot home of Bin Laden.

no, don’t think I want to bet on that - the house will give up their main authorized constitutional duty of the purse o the whitehut - for the first time in my life, I am afraid for our nation

We are so screwed

The enemy in the field is preferable to the enemy behind you.

That is my thought on Boehner as Speaker. Even Pelosi would be an improvement since she would not be in position to betray us.

Bonhead’s payday will come after he loses the Speakership and resigns. He will join a K Street firm and reap his reward for screwing future generations.

Don't forget the infomercials for Coppertone...

As much as I would like to see Boehner Humiliated in a vote - Issa’s change of vote has me convinced Crybaby will resign the speakership.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t “enough Republicans to unseat Boehner” have also been “enough republicans to stop a tax hike” last night? Where the f**k were these “enough Republicans” when it counted?

Peter King from New York is tearing Boehner apart over the Sandy Bill.

Another sign he is about to be dethroned?

Broner will remain speaker and the so called conservatives will fall in line (most of them anyway).

Per previous articles on the subject, only 16 dissenters are needed.

This will take place in the Republican caucus, so they will have ‘selected’ a speaker before it ever gets to the floor.

Even the Pubbies are not stupid enough to allow such a fight on the floor. Ahhh, wait a minute; they are Pubbies; they might.

jennifer bendery @jbendery

Boehner aide refers questions about Sandy aid bill to Cantor’s office.

Was Cantor sponsoring the bill?????

Why was the bill pulled from the Vote? Retribution or what?

267 voted for, 167 voted against. Sounds like a big difference, right? Not remotely close.

But breaking it down into Repub/Dem, 151 Rs and 16Ds voted against the deal.

I THINK I saw somewhere that 87 Rs voted for it, and the rest were the all but 16 Ds who joined the 151 Rs in voting no.

The massive “FOR” vote was massively DEM.

These numbers tell me Boehner was/is under pressure.

Whether that translates into his loss of the Speakership, we’ll see.

Eric Cantor is not a good replacement. Paul Ryan would be the pick of most, but he voted with Boehner, so that’s a no go.

A challenger from the clear, strong RIGHT should step forward, even if - as Mark Levin has said - they don’t win it.

But he says it must be someone who is not only a strong conservative but who is bright, articulate and passionate.

Trading Boehner for Canter is like trading rat poison for arsenic.

I think Pelosi was a brilliant speaker FOR HER SIDE.

Can you imagine her being a weak knee crybaby capitulating to everything coming from the Republicans?
