On Tuesday afternoon Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) publicly announced his opposition to the "fiscal cliff" deal that the Senate passed on Monday by a 89 to 8 vote. It's unclear if Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) was informed by his second in command of his plans prior to Tuesday's dramatic public announcement. Opposition to the Senate deal negotiated so publicly by Vice President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell seems to be growing by the minute among House Republicans as its details have been made public.
An analysis of the Senate "fiscal cliff" bill completed by the Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday revealed that rather than cut spending, the deal will add $4 trillion to the deficit over the next ten years.
Matthew Boyle reported at Breitbart that it includes $41 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts. The Senate deal looks more like an exercise in the traditional Washington practice of doling out pork rather than imposing austerity on a bloated federal budget. Numerous special interest groups have secured additional subsidies and tax credits in the Senate bill, including Hollywood, NASCAR, and the wind industry.

And Kabuki Theater is darned right, that what this all is.
He’s probably a bit better than Boehner, probably fewer tears too
At least Cantor and McCarthy voted against it.
LOL. I don’t want any popcorn.
Are they up for re-election soon?
Not much difference IMHO. Why can’t we have a conservative Speaker of the House? I know that it is a shocking concept; but it is one that should be considered.
Of course, it won’t be, but it can’t hurt to ask.
Otherwise...get thee to a civics class and don't vote again until you do...
So did Hensarling and Price.
as its details have been made public.
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Another one they had to pass to find out what is in it?
“And Kabuki Theater is darned right”
Oh, I don’t know. Kinda seems like a Punch and Judy show to me!
Don’t TRUST any of those that are in the leadership! They must ALL be replaced but especially Boehner. I can hardly believe how inept he is! He has DONE nothing to help this country. I do NOT want to hear that it was the BEST they could get. Am SICK SICK SICK of it!! Both my Rep Tom Marino PA-10 and Toomey voted for this debacle. Just disgusting!
In NOH, at the end, there's only one!
It's the House - they're ALL up for re-election soon.
I never thought that it would have to be specified that a bill must be available to a legislator before a vote up or down.
I suppose the Constitution probably needed to include that, and also, maybe that the bill NOT be encrypted and unable to be viewed without a unencryption key.
It's amazing how far the ruling Elite globalist cabal is willing to go, no?
Wanna see a Republican fight like a wounded grizzly bear?
Watch him go after another Republican who challenges him from the Right.
Check this out:

Specifially THIS Paragraph:
“Leadership challengeIn the summer of 1997 several House Republicans, who saw Newt Gingrich’s public image as a liability, attempted to replace him as Speaker. The challenge began July 9 with a meeting between Republican conference chairman John Boehner of Ohio and Republican leadership chairman Paxon. According to their plan, House Majority Leader Dick Armey, House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, Boehner and Paxon were to present Gingrich with an ultimatum: resign, or be voted out. However, Armey balked at the proposal to make Paxon the new Speaker, and told his chief of staff to warn Gingrich about the coup.[1][2]
On July 11, Gingrich met with senior Republican leadership to assess the situation. He explained that under no circumstance would he step down. If he was voted out, there would be a new election for Speaker, which would allow for the possibility that Democratsalong with dissenting Republicanswould vote in Dick Gephardt as Speaker. On July 16, Paxon offered to resign his post, feeling that he had not handled the situation correctly, as the only member of the leadership who had been appointed to his positionby Gingrichinstead of elected.[3]”.
Boner DESERVES EVERYTHING that hs is getting today! Hi IS a POS!
Cantor has been playing on the RINO side for several years. Someone has him playing this part.
You are welcome to share my tagline.
“Numerous special interest groups have secured additional subsidies and tax credits in the Senate bill, including Hollywood, NASCAR, and the wind industry.”
At one time they, with very few exceptions, stood on their own with tickets and sponsors paying the freight.
As much as I love racing, I see no reason other taxpayers should have to subsidize my passion any more than I do not want to support the various “professional” sport teams with my tax dollars. If some tattoo’d to the max parolee bouncing or hitting a ball can get $100 million a year that is fine with me as long as I don’t have to pay for their playhouse.
Makes sense. Occams Razor and all.
Mitt Romney was a POWERFUL campaigner, until he cinched the nomination. Suddenly, all magick seemed to leave him.
Cause the “ leaders” of the republican party do not want a conservative leadership.
They all are making great money and do not care to rock the gravey boat.
“Are they up for re-election soon?”
LOL... This isn’t the Senate.
The rules of the game ain't hard to figure out after a while, heads they win, tails we lose.
Yes, but they probably had their own reasons for that
And I don't think Cantor is an alcoholic, either.
When so many special interests recieve so many benefits that the standard of living is lowered for all.
cantor, boehner, mcarthy, upton, etc. just peas in the same pod.
Keep in mind that any single senator could have objected when unanymous consent was asked to skip the reading of the bill before the vote was taken. What that means is that there isn't a single senator with any balls. ANY senator who allegedly opposed this crap, could have ground the rush to pass down to a halt so they could at least know what it was they were voting on.
The fact that no senator did, means they all wanted it to pass, and any votes in opposition were "free" votes that were meaningless in the real world.
There are details you and Wiki are missing....
Newt resigned due to blackmail about his afair, with his now, current wife.
Hopefully 80% of the FReepers understand this. They are all owned by the elites & not following the group you will be ousted the next election.
Great, another RINO.
Anything coming out of D.C. is meaningless at this point. The whole place and process has been reduced to a farce and King Ogumbo rules completely unrestrained.
They have two days to “Draft” Alan West. He is a former Congressman, it is not necessary for the Speaker to be an elected Congressman, and he is the ONLY one I trust.
No thanks, Laz. Cantor carries the stench of Republican ‘leadership’.
At this point the only thing that will preserve my bond with the Republican Party is a Tea Party Speaker. I’m already off the reservation on candidates — it’s either conservatives or write-in from this point on.
Either the base wins, or else.
Here is who we desperately need.....Trey Gowdy, love him!
QUOTE
Congressman Trey Gowdy of South Carolina (R) — about the fiscal cliff bill (quote found in NYT) -
I have read the bill and cant find the spending cuts even with an electron magnifying glass.... its part medicinal, part placebo, and part treating the symptoms but not the underlying pathology.
- and the lemmings keep running toward and over the cliff.......
step aside and don’t get caught up in the rush. Let them pass.
When that has finished, and there are no more lemmings, we can pick up and practice human decency once more and in the process - re-institute the Constitution, the Bill Of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.
Don’t bother to dream. It only screws up your emotions. West was done in by his own party, the GOP. You think they’ll do a 180 and bring him back in a position of real power now?
You'd think so, but sadly, there are a lot of freepers who will vote for anyone with an (R) by his name. I'm no longer playing their games.
I would have no problem with West but he’s not the only one I trust, I like Matthew Fuller’s tag line.
“matthew fuller (Newt, Palin, West, Ryan, Gohmert, Gowdy, Poe, Issa, or McCaul for next House Speaker.)”
