Eric Cantor Makes First Move to Unseat Boehner in 'Fiscal Cliff' Kabuki Theater
Breitbart ^ | 1/1/2013 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 01/02/2013 11:47:53 AM PST by Lazamataz

On Tuesday afternoon Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) publicly announced his opposition to the "fiscal cliff" deal that the Senate passed on Monday by a 89 to 8 vote. It's unclear if Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) was informed by his second in command of his plans prior to Tuesday's dramatic public announcement. Opposition to the Senate deal negotiated so publicly by Vice President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell seems to be growing by the minute among House Republicans as its details have been made public.

An analysis of the Senate "fiscal cliff" bill completed by the Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday revealed that rather than cut spending, the deal will add $4 trillion to the deficit over the next ten years.

Matthew Boyle reported at Breitbart that it includes $41 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts. The Senate deal looks more like an exercise in the traditional Washington practice of doling out pork rather than imposing austerity on a bloated federal budget. Numerous special interest groups have secured additional subsidies and tax credits in the Senate bill, including Hollywood, NASCAR, and the wind industry.

Don't trust Cantor either, but he's 10% better than Boehner. At least he doesn't cry.

And Kabuki Theater is darned right, that what this all is.

Not much difference IMHO. Why can’t we have a conservative Speaker of the House? I know that it is a shocking concept; but it is one that should be considered.

Of course, it won’t be, but it can’t hurt to ask.

I certainly hope that was a sarcastic comment and not a serious question.

Otherwise...get thee to a civics class and don't vote again until you do...

Don’t TRUST any of those that are in the leadership! They must ALL be replaced but especially Boehner. I can hardly believe how inept he is! He has DONE nothing to help this country. I do NOT want to hear that it was the BEST they could get. Am SICK SICK SICK of it!! Both my Rep Tom Marino PA-10 and Toomey voted for this debacle. Just disgusting!

you'll want to look up NOH THEATER ~ Congressional power climbing is much more like NOH than the later KABUKI ~ many misidentify the one for the other because of the similarity of the colorful period costuming.

In NOH, at the end, there's only one!

Cantor is doing this just to make sure there isn't any real conservative opposition to Cry'in John.
GOP-E are masters at this.

I never thought that it would have to be specified that a bill must be available to a legislator before a vote up or down.

I suppose the Constitution probably needed to include that, and also, maybe that the bill NOT be encrypted and unable to be viewed without a unencryption key.

It's amazing how far the ruling Elite globalist cabal is willing to go, no?

Watch him go after another Republican who challenges him from the Right.

Check this out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Paxon

Specifially THIS Paragraph:
“Leadership challengeIn the summer of 1997 several House Republicans, who saw Newt Gingrich’s public image as a liability, attempted to replace him as Speaker. The challenge began July 9 with a meeting between Republican conference chairman John Boehner of Ohio and Republican leadership chairman Paxon. According to their plan, House Majority Leader Dick Armey, House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, Boehner and Paxon were to present Gingrich with an ultimatum: resign, or be voted out. However, Armey balked at the proposal to make Paxon the new Speaker, and told his chief of staff to warn Gingrich about the coup.[1][2]

On July 11, Gingrich met with senior Republican leadership to assess the situation. He explained that under no circumstance would he step down. If he was voted out, there would be a new election for Speaker, which would allow for the possibility that Democrats—along with dissenting Republicans—would vote in Dick Gephardt as Speaker. On July 16, Paxon offered to resign his post, feeling that he had not handled the situation correctly, as the only member of the leadership who had been appointed to his position—by Gingrich—instead of elected.[3]”.

Cantor has been playing on the RINO side for several years. Someone has him playing this part.

“Numerous special interest groups have secured additional subsidies and tax credits in the Senate bill, including Hollywood, NASCAR, and the wind industry.”

While I find any unrelated additions to bills the core source of our spending problem I find it very disconcerting that NASCAR has fallen into the trap.

At one time they, with very few exceptions, stood on their own with tickets and sponsors paying the freight.

As much as I love racing, I see no reason other taxpayers should have to subsidize my passion any more than I do not want to support the various “professional” sport teams with my tax dollars. If some tattoo’d to the max parolee bouncing or hitting a ball can get $100 million a year that is fine with me as long as I don’t have to pay for their playhouse.
