Aceh Town to Ban Female Passengers from Straddling Motorcycles
Banda Aceh. The administration of the Aceh town of Lhokseumawe is set to issue a regulation that will ban female passengers from straddling motor bikes.
Weve seen that peoples behaviors and morals are getting far from Acehs Islamic cultural values. Therefore we will issue a regulation that will ban women from straddling while sitting on the passengers seat of motorcycles, Lhokseumawe mayor Suaidi Yahya told the Jakarta Globe.
We want to save women from things that will cause them to violate Shariah law. We wish to honor women with this ban, because they are delicate creatures, he added.
Suaidi said his administration on Wednesday started distributing handouts to government offices and villages throughout the municipality to inform local residents of the new policy before the plan is formally implemented in a few months.
There will be sanctions for those who violate [the regulation], he added, although refusing to name the sanctions.
Suaidi further explained that the planned bylaw was expected to discourage women from wearing pants in public.
It will be easier for women to avoid straddling motorcycles if all of them wear skirts.
Suaidi claimed that the plan is supported by various groups, including local ulemas.
A student of Lhokseumawes Malikussaleh University, Nanda, immediately protested the plan, noting that straddling was safer and more comfortable than side-saddling, which would be the only position allowed for female passengers riding on motorcycles.
That is a ridiculous regulation; there are many other things [the administration] can take care of if Islamic Shariah is their reasoning, she said.

A city in Indonesia's Islamic law stronghold of Aceh will ban women from straddling male drivers on motorbikes, its mayor said on January 2, dubbing the position "improper." Under the new law, women in Lhokseumawe city, on the northern tip of Sumatra island, will have to sit "side-saddle" with their legs dangling off to one side. (AFP Photo/ Chaideer Mahyuddin)
Modern reporting worldwide really sucks. It's as if all reporters are retards, or unable to have insight as to what a statement suggests.
I infer that what is unsaid (and likely) is that women are not allowed to operate a motorcycle by themselves, no matter how they are dressed. It would be suicidal to do so riding sidesaddle. Perhaps I can become a zillionaire by inventing a motorcycle that is totally safe and efficacious to ride and maneuver sidesaddle!
Do you mean, you really can't figure out why the moslem chauvinist pigs passed this law?
Look out. Allah will send another holy Tsunami!
What’s the point of living in a world that doesn’t allow women to straddle motorcycles?
“Will ban women from straddling male motorcycle drivers” Just quoting.
Sounds like a Democrat law. Trying to save people from themselves.
NEWSFLASH!!!!! Thousands of men selling their motorcycles in Jakarta!
Are they banning the Sybian motorcycles too?
This one should really piss them off!!!
This might just reveal how many women are not compliant with mandated female circumcision. The smile would be hidden by the Burqa.
Newsflash: Muslim Clerics Issue New Fatwa Banning All Females from Straddling Scientologists
“We wish to honor women with this ban, because they are delicate creatures,
Isn’t that precious?
More and more, it seems that people everywhere are having a hard time keeping their minds out of the gutter. Not that there’s anything wrong with that...
That one is over the head of 95% on here.
We wish to honor women with this ban, because they are delicate creatures,>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>And if they don’t comply we will behead them.
I’m amongst the remaining 5%
ALL real motorcycles are Sybians.
