Dropping Anchor In Piraeus (We Have Reached Athens)

The word is out from Moodys Investor Service.

The United States cannot keep its credit rating unless more is done beyond the "imperfect deal" agreed to by the political leaders of both parties in Washington.

Reflecting on what was done it is impossible not to conclude that the deal was the beginning of what will be a series of European-style austerity measures coming out of Washington as demanded by the creditors holding onto this nations multi-trillion dollar debt.

We have made it into the same spot that Spain, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdon, France and Greece are.

The Age of Austerity is here.

Not only are the rich having more taken from them, but all of us are through the 2 percent payroll tax takeback.

I already have a pay stub in my wallet confirming that.

All politicians who take this route of passing future "imperfect deals" will be taking it at great peril to their careers by an angry electorate.

Who knows or who gives a rip what happens to Boehner, Reid, Obama and others who will make tough choices under the "Fiscal Cliffs" ahead of us in the years to come.

"Crisis" after "crisis" will force more spending cuts and more taxes on us at some point down the road.

As a longtime "movement conservative" who goes back to the days of radio preachers and commentators, Phyllis Schlafly, William F. Buckley and so on, the notion that higher taxation is the road to financial salvation is a joke.

The band aids aren't going to save Europe and they aren't going to save America.

I think we need to talk about a third party in this country, but I can almost guarantee you that lots of average Americans out there will flee the GOP for raising taxes and the Democrats if they are complicit in cutting welfare programs down the road.

That is sure as crap what happened in Greece when the austerity was pushed through by the "Right" and "Left" parties.

In Italy, the "conservative" politician Silvio Berlusconi has tried to slick his way out of the consequeces by abdicating power in the last year so a technocrat prime minister Mario Monti could pass all the austerity.

Now Berlusconi wants to come back to power blaming Monti for all the misery of the taxes and benefit cuts.

We are entering an age when the political parties will do and say anything to keep us supporting them including creating emotional diversions to maintain power. (Resentment of the 47 percent, Obama, Reid Pelosi)

Heck, in Argentina, President Cristina Kirchner is presiding over a failing economy, so she decides to stir up emotions about the Falkland Islands with her latest trick an open letter to British Prime Minister David Cameron demanding talks to give back the islands.

And then there is "Prime Minister Austerity" himself Mr. Cameron whose tax hikes and budget cuts across the board are leaving his Tories and Liberal Democrat allies on the ropes.

In recent parliamentary by-elections the Labor Party won with the conservative-libertarian United Kingdom Independence Party making some strong showings in second and third place.

Does America need a new conservative-libertarian party that will stand for less government-cutting spending and lower taxes, the only real ways out of this abyss we are falling into??????

That's for you to decide......

The Federal Election Commission exists to ensure that no national third party will form.

Of course we need a third party. The GOP is deader than a doornail.

Obama doesn’t care about credit ratings. He cares about crashing it all to remake America in his image...the Republicans are prepared to go along.

Maybe it doesn’t matter...if demographics are destiny. Minority voters and women seem to want a remade country based upon a Euro-socialist model.

And they’ll get the austerity handed to them just like the Europeans are right now.

I wonder how they’ll feel then.

There are already at least 50+ “Third Party” organizations in existence today.

Take your pick or add a new one.

My personal favorite is the THE AMERICAN BEER DRINKER’S PARTY - http://abdp.users.50megs.com/

Will the GOP, the talk show hosts, Fox News etc. etc. stirring up emotions about the pullout from Afghanistan help keep you on the Republican Plantation?

That’s how the conservatives get played with time after time, that’s how the system works, sad to say.

What Mr. Rove calls “the wedge issues” get used to pull you off the fence and onto the Republican side. It certainly helped to elect W Bush twice.

We have to make it painful to be a politician. They like the job too much. Heckle them. I’ve never seen a bigger bunch of pompous, self-absorbed windbags. Call them what they are.

I vote for individual candidates, could care less about party affiliation.

But with over 50 “third party” outfits to choose from, you can choose any plantation you want, or start your own. Good luck.
