I've been an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor for just a bit longer than I've been a professional educator -- just shy of 25 years, now, as a firearms instructor. In that time, I have taught a whole lot of educators to safely handle firearms, mostly for their FL concealed weapons permit. They all approach me like it's some kind of stereotypical drug deal. Furtive glances all around, tippy toe up and whisper: "Hey can you teach me to shoot? SSSSSHHHHHHH, don't tell anybody!" LOL

The folks I trained, I would not have any problems with carrying ccw in school. The others I know that are former military, many with combat experience, likewise, I'd have no issues with them carrying concealed. But the vast majority of teachers in my district, the 4th largest district in the nation should NOT be given access to any firearms under any circumstances. They'd be more of a danger, themselves. The issue is mostly mindset. They're classic sheep, and nothing of the stuff of sheepdogs.

The easy, simple, and obvious solution to this is to let them self select. Volunteers only.
