This photograph, released by the White House on Thursday, reveals the terrible moment when President Barack Obama was told the shocking news about the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The President, who has described the day of the shootings as the ‘worst day of my presidency,’ is seen bowing his head and closing his eyes as John Brennan, his deputy national security adviser, informs him about the tragic events unfolding in Newtown, Connecticut.

In the wake of the tragedy, the president has tasked his deputy Joe Biden with leading a task force to look at proposals to tighten current firearms legislation.

He couldn’t even get the town’s name right in his first speech.

I didn't hear that speech, but I spoke to a relative who had lived in Connecticut for many years and they got the name mixed up with another similar sounding, but perhaps better known, town name.

Except the tv had been saying the name every 30 seconds all morning.

That ‘door’ looks to be 4-5 inches thick!

HERE is why the 'door' is so thick:

It looks like the WALL from inside the OO and a DOOR from outside if it.

I think you’re right. Look at the white piece of wainsncot molding just below the door latch on the facing edge, matching the lower wall’s wainscot molding just behind the Brennan idiot, by the grandfather clock. That isn’t a public door. Closed, I’d bet it matches the wall’s vertical wallpaper, and is almost invisible. Wonder if it has a doorknob on the office side?
