This was real since the photographers were already there covering the school event.
Bush still got slammed for not freaking out like some drama queen and instead acting presidential. You can't win with these folks...

The most transparent pre-arranged photo op since Nixon walking the beach in wingtips and a business suit. Or Billyboy arranging a pre-gathered pile of little beach stones into a cross at Normandy.
He couldnt even get the towns name right in his first speech.
I didn't hear that speech, but I spoke to a relative who had lived in Connecticut for many years and they got the name mixed up with another similar sounding, but perhaps better known, town name.
