Of alarms, militias, and destiny

Anyone familiar with an accurate telling of the political truths leading up to the events of mid-April, 1775 in small towns and villages west of Boston knows that while the Colonials and their British masters were at loggerheads for the better part of a decade over a number of issues including taxation and liberty, the immediate and proximate trigger of the first American Revolutionary war was an attempt by General Thomas Gage to disarm the Colonists.

Yes, the American Revolution was triggered by a gun control raid that was met with force by the American people.

When I consider it, it seems so far fetched to think the colonials carried it off, to rebel and succeed.

We can do the same. We have the will and the numbers. We now need organization and 'a few good men.'

Post of the year. And by that I mean for at least the last 365 days. Thank you. Perhaps we should all soon be joining some militia, me thinks.

I LIKE that image. Love it actually. And I believe you are correct. Organization will be key, and likely become difficult. Before it’s too late, tell me where I sign up. :)

Thank you for your story and the picture. We were in this area some years ago, and felt as you feel....this IS our country’s history...you can feel it and it is a strong feeling and powerful. It should put fire in the bellies of all who view the scene, and remember what transpired here, and how it is now OUR time to step up and do what we must for this country, our Constitution, Liberty and Freedom.

Thank you. I think what got me was the confluence of time and weather. I believe that morning back in 1775 was a sunny one like this, and it was around the same time in the morning, too.

Well...anyway, hard to imagine things are so different now, in Concord.

Now, the town is finding ways to tax their citizens with a local income tax and outlaw the sale of plastic water bottles. I swear, they are deranged.

“the first American Revolutionary war was an attempt by General Thomas Gage to disarm the Colonists.

We will continue this, right after the following commerical on gun control.......And now back to planning the upcoming Second American Revolution. This will be interesting.

Do we still have the spines that our forebearers bequeathed us?

Everyone talks a good game about “standing up to the gun-grabbers” when they come up our driveways, but those gun-grabbers will be local police officers, probably with a warrant (legal or not) in hand.

Are you willing to open fire on a local cop? Seriously? I’d have a lot of trouble doing such a thing, as I believe most normal gun-owners would.

Far better to win this fight on paper, instead. Call your local politician (even if you can’t stand them ... hey, I live in Massachusetts) and POLITELY express your opposition to new gun restrictions. Join the NRA, even if you can’t stand them. Gun-grabbing lawmakers will pause when faced with an obvious majority.

Lexington really became historic with the “shot heard ‘round the world” and we still don’t know who fired it. That first shot is the toughest one and carries the burden of history. Think very long and hard about that.

The original article & your comment are both horsesh!t. Why must we fantasize about past battles, and at the same time resign ourselves to tyranny?

The obvious reason no one assembles, nor even discusses it, is because of both 100% saturation of the surveillance state, combined with the state's 100% ability to deliver both overwhelming air & ground power at a moments notice.

How many times must Matt post essays on how the CWII is really going to go down? There aren't going to be any groups greater than 1 or 2 people "fighting for liberty". The AR2 is going to be tit-for-tat, with ever greater escalation into retaliation on extended family members of both sides.

Yes, (registered) guns will be given up when the local constabulary comes with the warrants. But then all these people will be radicalized, and may act when given the opportunity at some future time. No coordination, no planning, simply a quick strike with a high degree of success.

The state will fight back with even more terrifying measures, and so it will go. This isn't going to be over in 1, 5 or even 10 years. It took the Soviet union 75+ years to collapse.

Some day a new republic will emerge, but it won't be something most of us will see.

its a bitter pill, but one we must swallow...the sooner the better to prepare mind and body for the storm...

“...the American Revolution was triggered by a gun control raid that was met with force by the American people....”

Bloomberg, Menino, Ramsey, et al...

Let that statement sink in. Think REAL hard on it with your addled, shrunken liberal brains.

There’s a REASON gun shops and gun shows are swamped with people, and AR15s and the like are selling off the shelves.

Dr Susan Gratia Hupp said it best to that POS Schumer when she testifed back in the 90s.

It still means the same thing.

problem is, they *know* this and are willing to sacrifice other people, both us and their minions, for their utopian dream...

its all running according to *plan* and as such, there is a 'jumping off point' where they MUST put the peddle to the metal and light the candle...

simply when, NOT if...

“...and POLITELY express your opposition to new gun restrictions....”

I DON’T HAVE TO BE POLITE to people who come to my house with a “Comply or Die” mentality and that will murder me and my family in a heartbeat for refusing while hiding behind their badges and “just following orders”; my ancestors SHOT DEAD people who were “just following orders”, and then watched others who were “just following orders” swing from ropes at Nuremberg.

I DON’T HAVE TO BE POLITE to people who want me disarmed, neutered, and dead.

I DON’T HAVE TO BE POLITE to people who want to strip me of my most basic Constitutional, civil, and HUMAN RIGHT and leave you at the mercy of thugs with baggy pants or thugs with badges.

I DON’T HAVE TO BE POLITE with people who by their actions openly threaten me and my family, expose my family to potential murder and assault, and expect me to roll over and do NOTHING about it.

That clear enough? You REALLY think those pieces of garbage in DC care about your polite paper opposition?

If they did, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

They’re prepared and determined to use COERCIVE LETHAL FORCE against you, your children, your home, and your f***ing GOLDFISH to accomplish their agenda.

Last time I checked, polite discourse was NOT how you win a war. See “Second World War, Victory over German Socialism and Japanese Imperialism”.

We’re not dealing with politics as usual here. We’re dealing with a coup that has taken place at multiple levels, and people in authority capacities at local, county, state, and fed levels that have ZERO regard for your rights, for your property, and for your life and your family’s lives.

All of that negates “polite”. Reality is what it is. As far as firing on a local police officer, everyone makes that decision for themselves. No one can tell what you should or shouldn’t do.

I’ll bet an awful lot of German Jews wished they’d fired on the “local cop” when he showed up at their front door with a Gestapo, SS, or SD agent at his side, Verstehst du, yah? “Gibt es keine Juden hier versteckt? Kommen Sie mit uns, JETZT.”

If gun owners are to be the new “Juden ratten”, it’d be best for local cops to stay home with Blue Flu when that order is given. Better yet, it would best for them to actively OPPOSE that order and side with the local Citizenry who have done NOTHING WRONG other than exercise their right to keep and bear arms. They’ll be welcomed as brothers in arms and in spirit in that case.

But as i said...reality is what it is. People will make decisions, and either good or really, really bad will come from those decisions.

Waiting for raids, in opposition to overwhelming force, is a mistake in my opinion.

If it comes to war, confronting the enemy at his points of strength will be an error (theoretically speaking).

I am, in the words of a great man, too old to go bush whacking - but the enemy has many weak points and can’t come close to covering them all.

Facing a squad of riflemen at your home, with your babies asleep inside, is the worst case scenario. Hopefully, patriots are considering more fruitful engagements.

Jeez, throttle back, Hale! I’m on your side!

I thought I made it clear I was suggesting one be polite when calling your local politician. Swearing, screaming or launching into a rant (like the one you just dumped on me) and you’ll hear a loud click on your phone. We have a message that needs to get out and you can’t deliver it when the other side hangs up.

I’m hoping that majority opposition will convince the crooks who “represent” us that it would be unwise to do anything truly over-the-top drastic, like forced gun buy-backs or outright confiscation. Any gains they make now, even small ones like limiting the capacity of magazines, will be twice as hard to remove once those laws are on the books.

But I agree that this war has already started. We’re just angling for better field position before things turn desperate, is all.
