Saudi airman stationed at Lackland accused of Vegas child rape

LAS VEGAS -- A sergeant in Saudi Arabia's air force was jailed in Las Vegas on charges that he pulled a young boy into a hotel room and sexually assaulted him the morning of Sin City's big New Year's Eve fireworks extravaganza.

Mazen Alotaibi, 23, faces charges including kidnapping, sexual assault with a minor and felony coercion that could get him decades in state prison, according to police and charging documents obtained Friday.

The boy, who is younger than 14, told police the man forced him into a room at the Circus Circus hotel on the Las Vegas Strip and raped him. Police arrested Alotaibi after being called to the hotel before 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 31.

"There was a kidnapping and sexual assault with force," Las Vegas police Lt. Dan McGrath said. "The victim said he was forced into the room and sexually assaulted. We have a strong case based on the evidence."

The boy, who lives out of state, was staying at the hotel with his family, McGrath said. He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment and evidence collection and released later to family members. His name was not made public.

McGrath said Alotaibi produced a Saudi Arabian military identification and said he was stationed at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland near San Antonio, Texas. U.S. federal authorities and Saudi military officials were notified, the police lieutenant said.

Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland spokesman Brent Boller told The Associated Press that records showed Alotaibi is currently stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. Boller said he could not immediately verify if Alotaibi had been at Lackland, but noted that international military students attend a Defense Language Institute English Language Center on the base to improve their English-language skills.

Alotaibi's lawyer, Don Chairez of Newport Beach, Calif., said Friday he had been in contact with U.S. military authorities at both air force bases and with the Saudi government. He said Alotaibi had come to Las Vegas for the New Year's celebration, and will plead not guilty.

Alotaibi also is charged with burglary, which in Nevada can stem from a person entering a building with intent to commit a felony.

The alleged attack took place on the sixth floor of a 15-story hotel tower. Circus Circus has a total of 3,767 guest rooms in three towers and five three-story motor lodge-style buildings dubbed Circus Circus Manor.

The arrest was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It cited a police report saying the boy was 13.

Alotaibi was being held without bail at the Clark County jail pending an evidence hearing Jan. 17.

One member of my old squadron broke a bathroom stall door at the Holiday Inn while on TDY. They banned USAF from staying there.

I wonder what will come of this.

But I thought the military recently banned criticism of pedophelia in Islam? So he’s been released, right?

Contrast what’s going to be done to him here for this versus what would be done to him back where he came from. He’s ruined a young life, but he’ll likely get to keep his.

I wonder what will come of this.

The cynic in me says that the criminal will be quietly deported; he will never see the inside of a prison. His father or brother or uncle is probably a big man in Saudi Arabia. A common man would not be sent to the USA for training, and he wouldn't have the audacity to rape children of the host nation. This guy behaved like he owns the world. Perhaps he does.

He's an NCO. They don't have that much pull unless they are hanging out with an officer, who is likely of royal connection.

I've shared a building with them, back in the day.

It's certainly a cultural misunderstanding (raping a teenage boy), but I hope the State of Nevada does well in their prosecution.

I certainly have no love for the House of Saud.

Too bad it wasn’t Harry Reid walking by the room instead of the kid. The Saudi would have committed Suicide after he realized what he just did.

Actually they don't make it past Friday. They put the bum I busted in a bag and tossed him off a minaret. He was a Prince. By the way it took two drops to do the Job.

Never heard any specifics but keep it quiet money changes hands more often than you would think. Saudis visiting here usually stay in groups and their “fun” is kept mostly to places and go betweens ( think pimps and providers ) their superiors deal with frequently.

He raped a 13 year old boy. You think that kid will grow up mentally healthy and have the life he would have had? Hell no. I don't care if the mussie is a royal bazillionaire, he deserves 30 years in prison. Or the kid's dad should get 10 minutes alone with him.

The U.S. government will quietly whisk him out of the country back to Saudi, the family of the boy will be given hush money and a silence warning, and Obama will bow to his King Abdullah blubbering with apologies.

The House of Sodomy is the more apt pronunciation.

I despise them. When I was assigned at the Air Force Survival School, some Saudi students washed out because they wouldn`t lower themselves to foraging in a survival situation. The USAF should`ve left them in the course and put their asses back in the field. Muslims are just like any other animal.. if they`re hungry, they`ll eat.

What will become of this? You will NEVER hear about it again, that’s what will become of this. If the man were a white Marine it would be front page news for a week. Since he’s a Moslem, it will be TOTALLY buried. Mark my words: This story will disappear completely.

Contrast what’s going to be done to him here for this versus what would be done to him back where he came from.....Women are for breeding, boys are for satisfaction...quote from Islamic culture. So nothing would have happened in SA, either.

Our government has recognized that this is part of thier religion much like the killing of your own children, physically abusing and or beheading your spouse or raping your own children so to say anything against islam is a racialy biased crime that can get you thrown in jail. And we havent been infultrated

Since the boy pursued justice, chances are that he won’t have all the years of stuffed, misplaced guilt and shame that most boys, who don’t tell, suffer after homo sexual manipulation and abuse. He’ll have to deal with having been raped with is bad but not necessarily ruinous.

But this is a warning to parents who often are protective of girls, but not boys in vacation resorts and public bath rooms. The perverts are aggressively out, loud and proud. Public schools are sexually aggressive with children and are not respecting appropriate boundries between adults and children or even between children. Don’t let your boys become victims. Until they are big enough not to be carried off and strong enough to fight, stay close to them.

Also, parents should get some professional materials to discuss sexual manipulation (groomming) and abuse with boys and girls. They should know that adults who overstep sexual boundries with children, verbally, are not to be trusted by them. Children need to be taught morals and ethics around sex because they are around people who are living a degrading porn/homo existence. This is not a period for “follow the herd” at the public schools.

Parents and students should be familar with sexual abuse and harassment laws in their areas (and rules governing their schools) and pursue adults who interact with children inappropriately. If I had a child in the public schools, I would obtain or create a booklet or web-site of this information for parents and students. Make the pervs afraid to step out.

Good advice, thanks. I am already just as protective over my 5 year old son as my 2 other daughters as it is, but that’s a good idea to discuss behavior between adults and kids.
