I went to that Kroger the morning it opened...as I walked my buggie to the car two Chesterfield County police officers ran past me and blew out of the lot in their squad cars. Who knows...it is my hope that the civilized man can reclaim this part of the county but the societal incentives are against it.

“...I remember the Lake Forest Plaza in eastern New Orleans. It was the largest, nicest mall in the state - for a brief period. Then the area turned into a Section 8 overflow from the old housing projects. One million square feet of retail space, and it only thrived for around fifteen years. The first signs of trouble at the Plaza were on Saturday nights, but the problem spread quickly....”

The same thing has happened twice in Baton Rouge already and is now happening for a 3rd time. First, it was the Bon Marche mall, then the Cortana mall and now the Mall of Louisiana is falling prey to the same crap. It’s the same MO that you described above in every case. First, Saturday nights turned into a war zone, then it spreads to every night, then afternoons. Soon, those with real money that want to shop, won’t go there anymoe if they sense the danger of gangs of “feral urban youth”. Stores lose business to the point they have to close the doors. IF anything is done to prevent it, the sounds of “racism” ring off the walls by local minority politicians. We’ve seen it all before. That’s one of the reasons my wife and I were both packing. We weren’t looking for trouble, just a new pair of shoes for her, but we weren’t gonna take any crap off these vermin either.

“...Maybe there’s a movie theater there....”

Nope, no movie theater close by. The two closest ones were about 3 miles away and are both now closed, probably for the same reasons: gangs of feral urban youth.

:...The CZ-USA site has some really nice walnut replacement grips for your wife’s P-01....”

We’re very familiar with that site along with the CZcustom site. IMHO, CZ makes some of the finest 9mm in the world. She tried some real pretty walnut grips for a while. They looked great and, although I personally had no issue with them, it’s her gun and she felt that the stock rubber grips give her a more secure grip on followup shots, especially on the combat course. With over 2000 rounds thru the barrel now, the plastic rod has not proven to be an issue on this particular pistol even if it is a little “cheesy”...lol. We have the replacement stainless rod and will change it out eventually.

***There were an unusual amount of young feral urban youth in there this afternoon as well.***

There was a survival web site that warned people to observe the demographics of where they are and get out when the feral population gets greater than a certain percent. I can’t find it now.

I was at the dedication party the night before. Several of the streets in there are named after fallen troops from the county, including my son. The signs don’t have the branch of service insignias on them yet.

It's sad having to always think like that, didn't have to just 15-20 years ago, but times are different and a lot worse.
I won't let my wife go to the mall in a town 25 miles away unless I'm with her.
Two or three mall cops can't cover the whole thing and there is just too many *trash* floating around looking for any opportunity.
Stores are having a tough time and its' been on the downhill skid several years.

The Bell Curve and 50+ years of converting O2 to CO2 have taught me truths that some devote their lives to hiding. Ignore these truths at your own peril.

Clearview Mall in Metairie was having similar problems. I walked through there one Saturday night and feared for my life. Anyway, the store owners began complaining so they implemented a curfew. Now a child must be accompanied by an adult in order to enter the mall after 4:00 p.m. (Not sure on the ages.) There was an outcry among teenagers locally, but the people who actually have money to spend in the mall love it. That’s the only mall I’ll go to at night.

I went to clearview about 6 pm with my five year old grandson about 12 yeqrs ago and suddenly realized there were nothing but scary men with gold jewelry hamging around like gamgs. Then my grandson barreled off at top speed right into a gang of about ten of them, looked up and asked what was wrong with one’s teeth..they were gold. I was terrified but retrieved him and a guard took me to my car, never afain. When we moved to Baltimore back in the early seventies I went to. place called Mondawmin Mall not knowing what it was, escorted out by friendly cop who told me never to come back!

Before the curfew, we went to a movie at the theater there one Saturday night. When we went in at 7:00 or so, all was fine. When we came out around 9:30, we could barely get through packs of teens to get out of the mall. It was SCARY. I heard that the final straw was a food court worker being attacked and that’s when they decided to have the curfew. There are really no good stores in Clearview, but it’s a safer place to see a night movie now. As for the other malls in town, I’ll go to a couple of the anchor stores at night but I never walk through the mall.
