Hume: Obama Believes Hagel Will Be A Counterforce To The Pentagon And Not An Advocate (video)

BRIT HUME: The only thing I can think of is that he believes that Hagel is a kind of maverick, would not drink the kool-aid as the White House may see it on Pentagon, military spending and so on. That he would be a counterforce over there and not an advocate for the armed forces in a way that even Leon Panetta has become.

You know, the warnings that we're hearing, for example, about the affect of the sequester, so-called, on the Pentagon, the dire warnings, have come from Panetta, not from the White House you'll notice. The President isn't going around warning about that, Leon Panetta is.

So, I think that that's the reason because otherwise, it is it a very peculiar choice. [A] highly controversial guy, really not a particularly distinguished record in the Senate, or really anywhere else. And I'm not suggesting that he didn't fight valiantly when he was himself a soldier, I'm not suggesting that. But he's an odd guy, there is this tinge of suspicion about his views on Israel, which politically is very dangerous and problematic.

So in other words, Obama will continue his policy of letting the US military wither on the vine. Just ask Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. God speed and good luck to every one serving in our military. You will be needing it.

Christians in the military need to GET OUT NOW !

How stupid can you get.
Obama screwed up foreign policy, and is hiring Chuck Hagel to fire him.
Obama wants to blame the Republicans for his disasters.

Really Chuck, how stupid can you get?

Just a thought. Zero may not really want Hagel to be confirmed, but is sending him to the wolves anyway for two reasons.

1. To cause a major divisive fight among GOP senators. 2. To smear all other Republicans as homophobic and anti-Israel (guilt by association, he used to be their colleague). The Enemedia will easily convince tons of low-info viewers of that.

After the political theater is over and Hagel goes down in flames (probably will drop out before confirmation hearings), Zero can nominate another Panetta-like crony.

Hagel’s long been a Dem asset, they know well who they’re getting.

An article that combines Hume and Hagel?

I feel like I’m a Bruce from the Philosophy Department of the University of Woolamaloo.

Hume here makes absolutely no sense. He sounds like he’s drunk.

I can only imagine Hagel was nominated to fail. But why? Dunno. I don’t particularly care at this point. Does it even really matter who’s secretary of defense? Just another guy for the press to pretend matters while the permanent government carries on its work, Pubs and Dems pretend to be different, and whatever political decisions that actually matter are devised elsewhere.

I feel the same way about Clinton, by the way. These people are PR figures, when they’re not just another step on the bureaucracy ladder. Do you think she really knew what the CIA was up to oj Benghazi? Or had anything to do much with the decision making after the attack commenced? Why, because it just so happened to be an embassy, and embassies are run by State? So at some point a memo went across her desk saying they needed more security, but a computer program could deal with that as well as her. Or she was told in dark rooms about what really happened, then it wasn’t her responsibility.

Hume is probably onto something.

I will say this for Leon Panetta: I expected him to be a bad SECDEF because he is a Democrat and because Obama is his boss.

I was wrong about Panetta. He is an honorable man.

Yes, he did agree to cut the Pentagon $450 Billion over ten years. That was what Obama told him to do, and he did it.

When Sequester came along and demanded another $600 Billion from the Pentagon, Panetta had had enough. He started speaking out publicly against it, and in turned tossed shame in Obama's face.

Moreover, the real story behind the Osama Bin Laden raid was this: Valerie Jarrett was blocking approval for the raid. She did so on at least 3 occasions. Panetta had had enough of this as well, so he went around her and Obama. He enlisted the support of Biden and Hillary Clinton, and then took obscure language from a previous meeting as his "approval" from the White House, ordered the raid, and then sent out a search party for Obama (who was either playing golf or playing with his boyfriend in the locker room at the time) to haul him back to the Situation Room during the actual raid.

This is why the Community Organizer appears shell shocked in this photo. It is because he was.

Panetta knew how to go for the throat because he did just that when he was at CIA.

Hagel is, quite simply, an A-hole. Sorry to be so crass, but that is what he is. He is universally disliked. Even McCain thinks he is a #$#$#@$, which is really, really saying something.

If you are saying ... obama knows how to pit one group against another, (which I feel he is a pro at doing), and will end up with the person he wants, I agree!!

oops! just heard on FoxNews Hagel and obama have traveled together and may be tighter than I expected them to be.

Oh well obama will again succeed, we will turn against each other again and obama ends with the person he wants.

Unless -— is Hagel the WORST person we could have, maybe not — so is obama playing Republicans, again.......
