Didn’t they realize that becoming a slave to government always comes at a cost? Oh maybe the Marxist never told them that part, all he said was be angry at those that are the wealth creators and we will make them pay a fair share....

and it really amazes me that they try and pass this crap off on the poor and lower middle as if it is such a good thing that Obama won the debate and the taxes on the rich went up and they should be willing to give back the SS holiday so that the program can remain solvent....

The idiots low info voters actually buy that crap all in the name of honoring their king the Radical Marxist in the White House.

There may be some of that going on.

But I knew a guy back in the dark ages whose employer neglected to pay him the legally mandated overtime rate. Somebody reported the company to the government and as a result the employer got to write the guy a check for $1700 (probably $10,000 or more in today's dollars).

That was for just one employee. Businesses with many more employees could find themselves bankrupted by such payments.

It's much wiser, I think, just to cut the employee's hours back to 20 and hire twice as many people to get the work done. Even having to fire an employee will be less painful then.

More likely is this, especially in the entry-level service industries and food service.

Guy has 50 people working for him at $12.50 per hour. Total weekly payroll of $22,500.

If he adds one more person, he has to pay a ton of money to Obastard.

Instead, he wisely backs every one of the existing 50 down to 30 hours, then hires 18 more at 30 hours. Total weekly payroll is now $25,500; total hours worked per week went from 2,000 to 2,040, same as if he had added the 51st employee before ObastardDeathPanels took office. Of course, there is more turnover, training, retraining, admin and overhead, but all that is much less than Obastard demands in tribute.

Would be good if they did, but a lot of libs I talk to like to blame the tax increase on the House. They claim that’s where it originated from(the new bill) and that it’s the Houses fault for allowing the tax to expire. They twist it to the GOP’s fault.

Below is a sample of how they are feeling, I find it very interesting that some of the posters are trying to convince the ones that are actually feeling the pain of the tax increase that they should just suck it up.... and the lack of empathy and compassion that this brings out in what would seem to be true Liberals. My guess is you have some elites on here rather upper class that are trying to stop a civil war in their own party.... I mean how many times are they going to get away with telling their core base, the minorities and poor that Obama is doing the best he can for you... The sad truth is that they are all slaves to government and don’t even understand any of it....

The sad truth is that many Dems have NO paycheck, and they are unaffected.

When their freebies start to disappear, they will be affected in more ways than the productive class. As Margaret Thatcher said, the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Funny you'd mention the 50 employee threshold. I was just looking for a chart showing the number of companies with n employees.

I expected to find a chart that overall looked like exponential decay, a huge number of 1 and 2 employee sole proprietorships, a big pile of 3-10, a smaller pile of 20 something, tapering down to a very few mega-employers.

What I wanted to see was how bad the pile-up was at 49.

Alas, I couldn't find such a chart.

You described my road life to a T

I know it, because I've lived it. And continue to do so on a more limited basis now. Now I travel >50 days instead of 150+.

“Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.”

“This is known as ‘bad luck’.”

My paycheck just went down by an amount that I don’t feel comfortable with.

Maybe it's just my perspective, but does anyone else hear 'metrosexual' and/or 'female social snooper agency type' oozing out of the above whine ?

It's WONDERFUL !

I’ve done a lot of Total Available Market analysis using data from Hoovers down to 500 employees, but not below. It is certainly an inverse exponential function from 500 to 500,000. I’m sure it’s the same from 1-2 up to 500 as you suggest. Fractal behavior.

You can be sure there is going to be huge discontinuity at 50 - 75 now.

“useful idiots”

Thanks - I’m not sure if I ever knew Lenin said that, or just forgot. Makes some guy’s twitter post make more sense on #whathappenedtomypaycheck:

“What happened is that before Nov. 6 you were a useful idiot.
Now you are just an idiot.”
