The giant, gaping hole in Sandy Hook reporting

Since last month’s horrifying and heartbreaking school massacre in Newtown, Conn., politicians and the press have, as everyone knows,.....

Other possible factors – from violent video games to the “failure of our mental-health system” to the unintended consequences of making schools “gun-free zones” – have taken a back seat to guns. Within hours of the gruesome mega-crime, the media had provided extensive, round-the-clock coverage of precisely which firearms, manufacturers and calibers the perpetrator had used, how he had obtained them from his mother, where they were originally purchased, and so on.

But where, I’d like to ask my colleagues in the media, is the reporting about the psychiatric medications the perpetrator – who had been under treatment for mental-health problems – may have been taking? After all, Mark and Louise Tambascio, family friends of the shooter and his mother, were interviewed on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” during which Louise Tambascio told correspondent Scott Pelley: “I know he was on medication and everything, but she homeschooled him at home cause he couldn’t deal with the school classes sometimes, so she just homeschooled Adam at home. And that was her life.” And here, Tambascio tells ABC News, “I knew he was on medication, but that’s all I know.”

It has been more than three weeks since the shooting. We know all about the guns he used, but what “medication” may he have used? (One brief mini-hoax emerged when the New York Daily News published a story claiming the shooter, according to his uncle, had been on the controversial antipsychotic drug Fanapt. That story was quickly withdrawn after the “uncle” turned out to be a fraudster with no relation to the murderer.)

So, what is the truth? Where is the journalistic curiosity? Where is the follow-up? Where is the police report,.......

“We learned that from the Japanese in WW2. They used 6MM that would only wound a GI. They knew that we did not leave our wounded like they did so every wounded GI took two able bodied soldiers off the battlefiled.”

Yep ...That’s the reason but that wasn’t really put into effect by US until Viet Nam ..We were still using the standard 30 cal used in M-1 and Springfields as well as machineguns during the Korean war and beyond. The reason was it was cost effieient. And if a supply depot was overrun and captured the ammo couldn’t be used (at least very easily) against US.

Saw it. I’m not doubting your veracity here, friend. If you say you know folks on-scene, then I take it that you do.

But I seriously just don’t know what the hell to believe anymore. I trust no one in any “official” capacity when it comes to this and other similar incidents.

I don’t trust them, nor do I believe them - especially when not more than 24 hours afterwards, the usual suspects were out there screaming for banning anything and everything with prepared statements, bills, etc., and not one LEO or cop who was on-scene stepped up and said “Whoa, hold on there, that isn’t necessary.”

The dems played on the emotion of the moment.

See Old Sarge’s list of questions at #56.

VERY astute, Pappy. I wonder what the condition of the Aurora shooter’s hard drive is/was?

Lemme look around...

There isn’t enough tinfoil in this county for me to even begin addressing that list.

Completely agree on the Dems. For Feinstein to be pushing legislation before the CT State Police have even issued their report points up that she is all about using emotionalism to drive bad legislation that wouldn’t pass with logical, considered deliberation.

Cops often don’t get involved in political aspects of cases like this. They are beholden to the local political establishment. It takes an elected sheriff (Arpaio is a good example) to make big public statements that go against the PC grain.

“...There isn’t enough tinfoil in this county...”

Tinfoil comment not necessary. People have legitimate questions and apprehension about this. Mostly, if you want to convince someone of what actually happened, you just need to address them directly and explain the facts that you have.

They’ll either believe you, or they won’t. It’s that simple. and then you move on.

“...she is all about using emotionalism to drive bad legislation...”

That’s what the Dems (libs in general) do.

From what I understand, he was not wearing a bullet proof vest but rather some garment with a large number of pockets, but I have no way of knowing if that’s true or not, because there is a black out of any facts at all except that he used a Bushmaster...

Nothing else is being discussed about what actually happened that day at all, and I find that highly, highly suspicious.

Thank you very much for the list and the ping, Old Sarge. I just skimmed it now — will read more closely later -— but haven’t seen many of these. Sheesh... such a rabbit hole!

Completely! I think the one that gets me the most (and in the Batman one too) — was how some “kid” (whom no one ever actually saw or identified during the shooting) — could hit moving targets so perfectly.

And then, the whole thing about how not one set of parents of the 20 children wanted to see their children’s bodies??? Or, were they ordered not to?

That story kept changing too. First, it was that the children were too shot up and the parents should be spared the morgue. Later, that they were too shot up in the face to ID. So, where did the Photoshopped copies come from, if their faces were too damaged? How would the parents know that is actually their child? Were the real children spirited away to the sex slave industry?

And, are all the parents/relatives chipper, happy, Invasion of the Body Snatchers/Stepford Village people -— or were they all hypnotized to start chanting about gun removal, all on cue?

One kicker for me was the Robbie Parker “statement”.

There he is, smiling and joking away, then a blonde woman off-camera hands him something, and he takes three deep breaths and gets into character; now he’s somber and choking as he weeps for the camera.

And that was just the first of several...

Oh heck, I can’t be the source for everyone. Dig around.

This is why I say our media is such a huge FAIL on this story. They really need to provide an overall summary of the real news and the corrections on the wrong news on this event.

Maybe I’m batsh!t crazy, but I do not believe anything at all anymore.

I think it is more "crazy" at this point in time to believe much of anything. There is more reason to not believe at this point.

You stated it, you back it up. You're trying to debunk Freepers with words and no facts. You dig around and report back here with your facts to prove your statements or quit making those statements.

I’m trying to keep FReepers from looking like idiot 9/11 conspiracy theorists, apparently without a lot of success.

Chris Manfredonia was the guy.

If you genuinely believe that the entire school population of Newtown and everybody they know and the LEOs and the State government and the hospital personnel and the morgues and the churches and the funeral homes and the cemeteries and everybody that all those people know are somehow part of a secret conspiracy to fake the deaths of 26 people, including 20 kids, then, yes, you are batsh!t crazy...no maybe about it.

Maybe.

But is that such a thing possible in this country?

I think so.

What I believe is that it did not happen as has been said.

I believe there is a shocking lack of detail or fact being released in this worst shooting crime ever.

Why do I now know the term “crisis actor” when I did not know it before?

What I am is highly suspicious.

But, if indeed I am also batsh!t crazy, then I am certainly living in the right country to not be alone at all in that regard.

We’ll never know for sure.

Initial reports from most horrific catastrophes are often inaccurate, contradicting and overly hyped.
