Teddy Kennedy, and the Democrats just couldn’t leave a good private industry alone.

In regards to the post you responded too and Ted Kennedy.

What haven't the Kennedy's touched they haven't screwed up.

* Cuba
* Immigration
* Executive Order to allow Federal Employee Unions.
* Health Care.
* Marilyn Monroe...

Yes I said it...

The costs in medical care have increased, and will continue to increase. The entire system is distorted.

Here is a dated graph:

Did you read the comments at the Forbes site (if your pages will load through all that script—ugh)?

Most of the commenters are koolaid drinking liberals who are blaming the “greedy insurance companies” for the rate increases, and hoping for their demise and the institution of single-payer healthcare.

Heaven help us.

Their ‘agenda’ is well-underway. 2014 is going to be the sledgehammer for HC costs.

Totally agree with your assessment.

My commentary was focused on a focused commentary on a focused thread.

At the end of 2012, Mark Bertolini, the CEO of Aetna, the third-largest health insurer in the country, warned that many consumers would face “premium rate shock” with the advent of Obamacare’s major insurance regulations in 2014. He predicted that unsubsidized premiums would rise 20 to 50 percent, on average.

You don't have to wonder why the big health insurance companies -- including United Healthcare's marketing arm, AARP -- were big supporters of ObamaCare. For a crony fascist, what's not to like about a 20-50% revenue increase, with every American forced to buy your product.

Indeed. However the company will be at the mercy of the politicians who have their shock collar around their neck- and ours.

I’m fortunate that my total premiums are very low, because I have good insurance with my company, although partly that is because the first few thousand is deductable (then they give us many incentives to do things that add money to a fund that can be used to pay the deductables, like a HSA but part of the insurance).

Still, my premiums for the medical part of my benefits went up a whopping 40%.

And I am limited to $2500 in my medical savings account, which I haven’t figured out if that will be a problem or not, because this will be the first year I put that much into the account.

Do you mean FSA or MSA, the FSA has a $2,500 limit, I am not sure about MSA's, they are going away and most folks have HSA's.

HSA's will be made un-afforable as they need to conform to the "Qualified Plan" and in essence they will be made illegal.

GM, Obamacare, and the Sibilius Mandate, all are the destruction of Contract Law, he is turning us into a Country where we will question all Contracts, he is heading us towards becoming the next Soviet Union.

Odd...why would moochers, freeloaders, bums, parasites, human detritus and flotsam (aka Democrats) be reading Forbes? They aren’t going there to learn about the wonders of free markets and the power of the invisible hand.

Military health care gutting, I know it’s from a libtard site but it helps to keep a eye on the enemy.

Forbes readership base is not "the rich" but those that keep a green eye on "the rich", hence their many lists and comparisons of others. Envious eyeballs are worth gold to advertisers of bling and other overpriced bright shiny objects. The primary goal of advertising is to stir up feelings of envy, and leftist Forbes readers are putty in their hands.

Doesn't the left actually hire people to flood the internet with whatever their hobby-horse du jour is? I recall reading about some Dem bragging about how they created a "groundswell" of demand for campaign finance "reform" that way. Just as some of the "Occupy" freaks were hired (someone posted a link to a CraigsList want ad).

Same here on rates, even with Federal Employees. My (AETNA FFS)premiums went from $140 per 2 weeks (Jan 2012) to $190 (Sept 2012) to a whopping $315 per 2 weeks on 1/1/13, for a 225% total increase. Luckily, we have about 10 choices on coverage so I was able to choose a similar plan (BCBS FED)for $91 per pay period. This premium is up 50% from last year, too. I was able to add a Humana Dental plan for $28, and still come out paying less. I’m guessing that most Freepers don’t have the options we do, and ended up paying a lot more.

The plans are almost identical, except the new one has higher co-pays on meds. Newer, more expensive meds are covered 80/20 with no upper limit. They were a flat $65 on the old one.

BTW, not all of the increase was due to Obamacare. Our Union participated in this screwing big time. In an effort to cut costs, the Postal Service agreed to continue funding the union plans at the same rate. Union insurance plans are basic catastrophic health plans with high deductables.

The insurance plans offered by the USPS (HMO, PPO, POS, FFS) will be funded at lower rates, decreasing every year through 2015. That was the reason for the September increase last year, and we’ll have another increase on 9/13 and 9/14. Thank you APWU! (Don’t get me started on the Union. They are on my shit list right behind Barry, Harry, and Nancy.)
