Chuck Hagel, who was nominated on Monday by President Barack Obama as Secretary of Defense, dismissed allegations that he is against Israel.
The former Nebraska senator said in an interview that an accurate assessment of his record will demonstrate "unequivocal, total support for Israel" and endorsement of tough international economic sanctions against Iran.
Critics have "completely distorted" his record, the former Nebraska senator told the Lincoln Journal Star, a local newspaper based in his home state.
At last, Hagel said, with his nomination announced by the president, he has an opportunity to set the record straight.
He added that there is "not one shred of evidence that I'm anti-Israeli, not one (Senate) vote that matters that hurt Israel."

I’m sure Hagel supports Israel to the same degree Obama supports Israel.
Hence, why Hagel is being considered.
One would prefer evidence that he’s not anti-Israel ... as opposed to the alleged absence of evidence that he is.
SnakeDoc
As far as being anti-Israel, why quibble. The stronger charge is that you are anti-semitic.
Another lying pile of ..... The mere fact he has been offered the job by our illustrious regime is pure fact he is anti-Israel. Show me one regime member pro-Israel?
Right. And hussein is a Christian.
“One would prefer evidence that hes not anti-Israel ... as opposed to the alleged absence of evidence that he is.”
Good one, Doc! You’ve been reading their playbook.
He’s talking about himself, why doesn’t he announce himself?

He's probably right. Supporting unconditional negotiations with Iran and Hamas, refusal to recognize Hamas, Hizbollah, and the Revolutionary Guards as terrorists, these things aren't simply anti Israel. IMO, they're naive positions, likely to damage America's security, but they're positions shared by many on the far left. And though they're contrary to the administration's policy, I suspect BHO will soon let his inner hard left security persona come out in this term. Hagel and Kerry are perfect to hang the positions on, especially Hagel.

What’s that saying about legal cases? Something like: if the facts don’t support, argue...
Why get your hands dirty when you have two clowns that are more than ready and willing to do your dirty work, eh?
Let’s see:
Kerry, Vietnam Vet, State
Hagel, Vietnam Vet, Defense
McDemocrat, Vietnam Vet, Senate RINO
Now, I have nothing against Vietnam Vets, there are many great ones, but these three have an axe to grind.
What could go wrong? Lil Barry’s reading Jimmah Carter’s play book.
Hegel is a suck-up. He isn’t being nominated/appointed because of his business acumen. He knows what to kiss and when, just to save his own backside.
If it weren’t so devastatingly, sadly, pathetically, blatantly political, it would be criminal...that is, under any other administration.
Americans need to rise up, join together and REBEL! Or unite politically. Or all of the above.
Anyone that tells an entire lobby to go stuff it earns my respect. I don’t care who it is.
There is a lot of evidence Hagel is an angry troubled man. He should not be Sec Def.
...said in an interview that an accurate assessment of his record will demonstrate "unequivocal, total support for Israel" ...added that there is "not one shred of evidence that I'm anti-Israeli, not one (Senate) vote that matters that hurt Israel."IOW, he's leaving the door open for his votes that didn't matter which hurt Israel -- those were merely gratuitous.
