Yet the “assault weapon” misnomer is a myth perpetuated by gun control advocates who seek to confuse the public about the difference between millions of semi-automatic firearms, which are functionally identical to hunting rifles, and military “assault rifles” which are machine guns virtually unavailable to the public since implementation of the National Firearms Act of 1934. The notion being promulgated by gun control advocates that such features increase lethality by allowing guns to be “fired from the hip” is absurd: Any firearms expert will attest that rifles can only be effectively utilized from the shoulder. Although you are being told that ammunition used by modern rifles is excessively destructive, in truth it is ballistically inferior to common .30-06 hunting ammunition and was selected by the military not for its lethality, but instead for light weight and low recoil.

How about gaining the offensive in this manner. Include in the letter this ultimatum. “You are hereby advised that all law abiding gun owners will refuse to pay any federal income tax to a government that acts unconstitutionally.”
A million armed gun owner march would be better.

Yes, let’s go on the offensive. The ‘86, ‘68 and ‘34 gun control acts are all unConstitutional so lets push back hard for repeal of them all.
Inform all those voting for any “disarmament legislation” that you will hold them personally responsible for any harm that comes to you or your family due to your inability to protect them from bodily harm.
