This mother’s passionate plea for gun control will air in living rooms around the country on the second anniversary of her daughter’s death.
“My nine-year old daughter was murdered in the Tuscon shooting,” says Roxanna Green. “I have one question for our political leaders: when will you find the courage to stand up to the gun lobby?”
“Whose child has to die next?”
Her daughter Christina was among the six killed and 13 wounded in the shooting at neighborhood event with then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on January 8, 2011. Giffords was among those wounded and who eventually resigned from Congress to focus on her recovery. Jared Lee Loughner pleaded guilty in August to 19 counts related to the shooting.
But Green remembers her daughter, the youngest victim of the shooting, and calls for action in a new television ad from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
His group also enlisted celebrities to star in a recent video supporting the effort to “Demand a Plan” for action on gun control.
Green’s daughter was a few years older than the 20 six- and seven-year-olds killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, at a shooting there December 14.
That shooting sparked a new wave of calls for gun control, including from leaders in Washington. President Barack Obama pledged “meaningful action” against gun violence and appointed Vice President Joe Biden to lead the effort.
Bloomberg applauded Obama’s statement and urged him to take “immediate steps.”

But it makes more sense to keep criminals and the mentally ill who are a danger to themselves and others from harming themselves and others. Unfortunately, it's easier and cheaper for Bloomberg and other politicians to just let criminals and mentally ill roam free.
Nanny Bloomberg had an armed security detail before he became mayor and will have one afterwards. Why? To protect himself from thugs and the violent mentally ill. It is just the peasants who are not allowed to protect themselves from thugs and the violent mentally ill.
Libs are mental. All the mass shooters have been mental.

You poor brainwashed woman. I am so sorry for your loss but a gun did not kill your daughter... an evil madman used that gun... it could have been a knife, or a hammer, or his bare hands... but that mentally ill man was so infected by satan’s evil that he killed your daughter. You need mental health control to save other children. A gun would have saved your daughters life... if only. The same people that hired you and paid you to make your commercial are the very people that opened the flood gates of insanity and unleashed the mentally ill from our Hospitals and Asylums... they closed all of our facilities that warehoused these dangerous demons... they have rights you see... and one was to kill your daughter. Wake up and blame those that are guilty. Guns save lives... politicians kill!

If a Republican wanted to stir the pot a bit....require a drug-test each time you want to buy a gun. You can figure it’d add a full week onto the waiting time. But you could add a line that any mental-control drug would automatically disqualify you from the purchase. Since we know almost all of the mass-shooters from the past decade were on some type of control-drug, this would quickly fix up the problem, in my humble opinion.
Precisely. Most of these critters flagged their illness far enough in advance that they should have been OFF THE STREET and under observation before it ever reached the action point.
The psych for the VA Tech crazy hid his files. loughner’s shrink got him off campass and forgot about him. We STILL don’t know about lanza, but his mother knew he was deranged.
I think they should do what they just did in France. Try the shrinks for manslaughter, lift their licenses, and make sure they never get to ‘treat’ another patient in this lifetime.
Hundreds of millions of firearms and responsible owners do not constitute a ‘lobby.’
