Economy Grows, Revenues Increase After Texas Slashes Spending

The Texas state comptroller estimated Texas will generate $96.2 billion in revenue for the 2014-2015 fiscal cycle and reported Texas collected $8.8 billion more in revenue than expected during the last fiscal year. When unemployment in Texas was at its highest in a decade and the state government faced a $27 billion shortfall in 2011, legislators wrote what was then described as a “cut-to-the-bone” budget.

And it worked.

According to the Associated Press, “unemployment now is at a four-year low of 6.2 percent, sales tax receipts are skyrocketing and money is pouring into state coffers behind a new energy boom.”

And while Texas is projected to have more revenue to spend, Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst have indicated they would “limit any increase in state spending to a sum of population growth plus inflation, or 9.85 percent,” to prevent Texas from racking another budget shortfall.

Will the leftist blue states take a lesson? Naw-they will just push their tax and spend claptrap and claim it helps the poor and underpriveleged while their states sink further into debt. Pure lunacy but hey, its the new, old abnormal.

Unfortunately, we have too many liberal here now, and they are already braying that we have to spend this money and more. I hope there are still enough sane people here to keep them in check!

And economic refugees from high-tax states are moving to Texas, thus reviving the housing market here. Before the end of 2012, three friends in different Central TX cities sold their homes and upgraded to better ones. The job market is definitely improving here as well.

How about that. When you don’t spend more than you take in, life is a bit easier.

Obama himself said that it isn’t about the revenue; it’s about “fairness.” In other words, punishing the successful. That’s why he would never consider implementing similar fiscal policy. He wants us all to be poor, gray, miserable (but equal) serfs.

Works every time. Unlike socialism, which fails every time.

Perhaps. But I think this is just another case of White America's Racial Hatred Towards a Black Man in the White House.

Alternatively, it could simply be an example of The Rising Tide of Racism in America(trademark).

Take your pick....
