When you have stolen all the money you can, the last step is to sell off your defense, then move when the country is taken.

How long before the government just disbands our military of brave patriots and calls in UN forces instead?

We could pay off China with Air Craft Carriers and Ballistic Missile Submarines.

Wow, Obama finally supports cutting the federal budget.. Of course, it’s the federal military budget, but for old Trillion Dollar Deficit Obama, it’s still a first.

What do you think gets slashed first? Military benefits, veteran benefits or the chaplain corps? Doubt it’ll be spending on wizbang toys.

There you go. A fine unionized military is the goal, tying orders to soldiers livelihood and well being cleans up the guess work on in our contemplations, on who will do what and to what extent.

We have not yet reached the Tea Party state, where we stop complying, cooperating and complying. We’re still stuck in playing political games, trying to stall the inevitable. Resistance.

If a Democratic president is going to slash defense, he probably wants a Republican at the Pentagon to give him political cover, and he probably wants a decorated war hero to boot.

Two problems with that analysis - hagel isn't a Republican and Benedict Arnold was a decorated war hero too. But Øbongo will likely succeed because we have idiots like mccain in prominent positions who will give him cover.

At the risk of getting flamed... This is long overdue.

We currently base troops in 123 different countries - why? We still have troops in the Balks - why? We still pay to keep the Egyptians and the Israelis apart - why?

We have more Officers and Generals now than in WWII, and in WWII we had 8 million people in the military - so, ya, a lot of the bloat and deadwood can go.

What will really happen?
We have a friend that works at the local on-base child care facility, they were given lay-off notices in December - ALL the on-base/on-post child care will be closed.

What else? A ton of civilian staffed jobs will go away. Summer hire? Bye-bye. I'm even hearing rumors that the Commissary for most bases in the L48 will be closed to save money. Not all, but most.

Any BRAC folks sniffing around your local military facility? Get ready to see it closed.

And the 100K military positions getting cut is just the start.

What to see what the future of the US military is under the Democrats? (NOT Obama - CONgress sets to the budget, the pres is just a cheerleader) Look at what Canada has done in their restructuring. Look for much the same thing to happen here.

Obama is nominating people that will stir up controversy. He’s trying to overload the system, if we’re busy trying to fight Hagel and Brennan we’ll be too busy to give our full attention to Benghazi. This is the way he works. It’s Clower-Piven! We need to figure out how to stop him.
Another thing he likes to do is to create a controversy and, while we’re busy looking in one direction, he pulls something else in the other.

I am not in principle against cutting the military budget as I also feel that there is a lot of waste and bloat in the defense department.

The really tricky challenge is this — IDENTIFYING WHAT AND HOW MUCH TO CUT WITHOUT COMPROMISING US SECURITY AND INTEREST WORLDWIDE.

I don’t know what flag he flies under but, even as moderate as the Republican party has become, he hasn’t served the interests of the party or his constituents as a republican for years (if at all).

kiss my bacside, I spent 22 years watching my friends suffer and in some caes die to protect people fully capable of their own defense.

Why the heck are we still in Korea? they have a large and modern standing Army. The list goes on - we have spent ourselves into poverty with this and the waste...
