ARKANSAS NEWS BUREAU LITTLE ROCK Arkansas immigrant population, among the fastest-growing in the nation, has a positive impact on the states economy, according to results of a study released Tuesday.
The report, A Profile of Immigrants in Arkansas 2013 commissioned by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, also found that more than 4 in 10 immigrants in the state are undocumented.
The immigrant population here grew by 82 percent between 2000 and 2010, according to the report, a rate behind only Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The first man arrested was 50-year-old Cuauthemoc Sanchez-Lopez, who agents picked-up on his way to work near the intersection of Cove Street and Park Avenue. According to ICE agents, Sanchez-Lopez was convicted in Texas in 1993 for attempted burglary of a vehicle, and that counted as a probation violation for a 1992 Texas conviction for burglary of a habitation. Both are felony convictions. ICE agents say Sanchez-Lopez was deported in 1994, but then reentered the United States illegally and has since been arrested three times for driving under the influence.
"We definitely prioritize, you know, the worst criminals on down," said ICE Agent Andy Parker, pointing out that Sanchez-Lopez has been convicted of numerous felonies.
After Sanchez-Lopez's arrest, he told Fox16 about his 12-year-old daughter who lives in Arkansas and who Sanchez-Lopez says is an American citizen.
"I need protect my daughter, you know? I need pay my child support and see my daughter," he said, "and what you think I go do when guys put me on the other side of the line?"
Asked to clarify, Sanchez-Lopez said even if he is deported again, he plans to come back to the U.S. illegally. http://www.cwarkansas.com/news/local/story/2-illegal-immigrants-arrested-in-Hot-Springs/bxlDkHd2u0KRlnO2GoLGrg.cspx
The study left out what it cost law enforcement, what drunk drivers cost the state, hit and runs, drug arrests.Hot Springs use to tick along quite nicely without illegals. They just want cheap workers, no benefits, pass their healthcare plan along to the taxpayers.Really should illegals be handling poultry without any health checks ? And Joel Anderson, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, urged the Legislature pass legislation to make the children of undocumented immigrants eligible for in-state college tuition rates..Why not sign them up for free cars, free houses..Too much monkey business here.
Squatting out a kid doesn’t make them an American.
“There are many people, including some here, who are perfectly okay with exploiting illegal laborers. To them, profits trump the rule of law and national sovereignty. To these people, they reap the profits while the rest of us absorb the costs and troubles brought by importing illegals, and force the costs off on the rest of us through increased crime, welfare, and loss of jobs to Americans.”
Exactly. A business owner wants to import labor. Let him assume ALL the costs involved with it and I mean ALL the costs. Suddenly it doesn’t seem like such a good deal anymore. In fact it would be cheaper in the long run to pay higher wages to citizens for the same work. If we have to rely on Mexican “coolies” for our economy to run then we have a far greater problem with this country and how its economy functions.
Report: Immigrants contribute to state’s economy -Now check out in Texas...Jesse Sanchez of San Benito said he just wants his life back to normal.
He said he lost his wallet when he was just 17-years-old, and it ended up in the wrong hands.
Sanchez said his life has never been the same.
“It’s affected me real bad because I cant get a job, without them doing a background check on me and I really dont know what else this guy has done to my credit, Sanchez said.
San Benito police said unfortunately when someone’s identity is stolen, the burden of proof falls on the victim.
Investigator Rogelio Banda said it’s during this time of year that police see an increase in identity theft reports.
“They have to pretty much be able to verify and state that it was not them that made that purchase or had that employment, Banda said. Usually, around this time of the year, we see identity theft cases go up sometimes during income tax season.
Sanchez said the person that allegedly has been using his name to work throughout the U.S. was once caught, jailed and deported to Mexico.
However, he said just recently the man or possibly someone else started using his identity again.
Sanchez carries a letter with him issued by the Department of Public Safety, since theyve been investigating the case.
However, Sanchez said its not enough though, because employers will not hire him for things that pop-up on his criminal background.
Sanchez claims they are not his wrongdoings but those of the identity thieves.
“There is something wrong with the system, Sanchez said. If someone is out there that has identity theft and needs help, there should be a system that will be there to help people (going through this).
Hernandez said Social Security administrators have told him he can get a new number, however, Sanchez would have to give up all the earnings made with his original number.
Police warn people should not leave any items like wallets or documents with personal information in plain sight in their cars.
They leave out small things like Identity Theft, tax fraud, etc, etc, etc.
They also “contribute” to overcrowded prisons, schools and emergency rooms.
Yes, what we really ought to have are food stamp/section eight "coolies"...and drug dealer chain gangs.
Again, exactly. The dirty little secret is that the rest of us pay taxes to subsidize their “cheap” labor. It is cheap because those of us who don’t benefit from it are footing the bill for the medical care, schooling their kids, welfare benefits for anchor babies, criminal justice, etc. provided to illegals.
"Immigrants" or "Illegal Trespassers"
This is how the liberals are able to define and control arguments. They redefine and rename nomenclature to create grey areas and confusion in logic and understanding and then direct the indoctrination towards the so - called "Low-Information" voter public.
As long as they are not taken to task on this proclivity and reminded that words do mean things .... they will always be able to control the hearts and minds of the masses.
Of course, these studies (especially those funded by groups that have financial interest in promoting cheap immigrant labor, both legal and illegal).
They don’t include the cost in incarcerate immigrants (legal or illegal), they don’t include the cost to school children of immigrants, especially illegal immigrants (ESL being just one cost).
They don’t tally in the cost to the working class who’s wages are depressed, or jobs even lost due to the cheap labor force.
Nowhere in the report is there an accounting of the medical costs the state pays to hospitals for illegals.
It’s like they count the “value” of the work they do - without deducting anything for the costs to society.
Of course, something else that helps the numbers - also included is the veritable army of immigrant doctors staffing many hospitals (U of A Medical Center is full of doctors from the Middle East and Asia). Their “productivity” is included, though they don’t fit the mold of the “average” immigrant.
