Reading is Easy (Illiteracy is hard)

...endless shock waves of intellectual disorientation.

Here is jargon concocted by our elite experts during this long national nightmare: psycholinguistics, miscue analysis, reading strategies, comprehension strategies, whole word, guessing, picture reading, whole language, sight words, balanced literacy, reading readiness, word walls, active learning practices, closed instructional activities, high-frequency words, thinking and learning about print, invented spelling, reading recovery, emergent literacy, creative curriculum approach, functional systemic linguistic theory, rich literacy activities, authoring cycle, capability beliefs, post-reading, lifelong reader, cognitive flexibility theory, independent reading, kid watching.

The drift of all this malarkey is that reading is a very difficult thing to do.

We used to be able to teach kids to read, up until the 1960’s or so.

Two things changed.

1) We abandoned Phonics.

2) Teachers used to be of above-average intelligence. Now, average teacher SAT test scores are the lowest among college majors.

Phonics and a switch. Works wonders. I learned to read at age 4.

Teaching reading is not easy. When the teacher is more worried about his/her/its sexual progress than their reading, it is really really hard.

Below is from a part of an article at the author’s site. He has some brilliant articles there.

I have been making the point for years—that the Leftists have intentionally destroyed American education—”hey ho, Western Civ has got to go” which Dewey started and they were able to finish by the 70’s with Cultural Marxist Sex Ed—to totally kill all morality in little children. To destroy their innocence by exposing them to ideas they are too immature to understand—so it removes all morality and reduces the act to an animal act with no meaning. Sexualizing young children is the easiest way to corrupt them and destroy their worldview of man and woman, to the pagan, occult worldview.

We HAVE to return to Classical education and phonics before Dewey. Otherwise—excellence in our children will be non existent.

All BF Skinner education today in Public Schools is meant to frustrate children—to make them believe they are dumb so they stay ignorant (Why Johnny Can’t Read). It is intentional.

“The use of language is the use of the mind. Learning to use language carefully would seem to be training in using the mind carefully, and it has long been considered so. The Greeks and Romans were careful students of rhetoric and grammar; during most of the history of Europe, the study of classical writers was the basis of all education. “

When we put in the “Go Spot Go” books and ditched the McGuffey Readers and grammar and rhetoric-—we also ditched Truth (Bible) and Wisdom and studying all the greatest Classical thinkers.

The Left wants to create Slaves of the State who can not function without being told by an authority figure what to think. The MSM creates “truth” by music, visuals, and glamorous movie stars to create the proper “group” sentiment which always perverts Truth. Emotionalism is better for mob rule than people who use their intellect. MSM and schools are the “Ministry of Truth”.

There is no return. there are no teachers who can do it anymore. There are no teachers' schools even capable of teaching it anymore.

I taught my four to read at ages 3 and 4.The easy way is to just read to them and folllow the words with your finger. They teach themselves "phonics" that way with a little help when they ask questions. A little more ambitious way that works was from a book called something like "Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Days."

A long time ago country kids used to learn to read upside down.Daddy read the Bible to them every evening across a table and followed the fine print with his finger.

Classical schools are popping up all over the place — charter, Christian and private.

http://www.greatheartsaz.org/

They hire a lot of people who are not products of education schools.

More than two things changed to ruin education over the past 40 years. The central deconstruction of teaching children came about with liberalism’s race and sex baiting; permitting radicals to reinvent education methods and purposes.

We lost sight of teaching individuals Western ethics and to read, analyze (think), write to attempting to improve victim race and sex group performance while hobbling white males in the name of quota “equality.”

It was actually one big re-education effort that amounted to insane radicals reinventing the wheel into a square. They tossed out all collective knowledge and wisdom the West had gained on teaching and civilizing and preparing Western children, deeming themselves and Marxism morally and intellectually superior to all the “racist and sexist” animals who came before them.

Every time they wanted to deconstruct some aspect of Western culture and our way of life, they would justify it in the name of education quota outcomes of minorities and women. Liberals are great at tearing things down. They stink in building anything worthwhile to replace that which they destroyed.

IMHO, teaching reading is easy. Here's what I did:

  1. Starting on the day you bring your baby home from the hospital - read to them - alot, at least every nap or bed time.
  2. Verbally repeat and visually show the ABC's continuously.
  3. Point to the words and indicate the letter sounds as you read aloud and sound out the words as you go.

Both my kids could read before they went to kindergarten, and I still read to them almost every day although they're 7 and 12.

Homeschoolers have the curricula that has been proven to work—and Saxon math still exists. Other free online math programs are great.

There still are logical, well, developed curricula out there, which are never used in public schools—like the Saxon math—which was rejected by public schools, because it was PROVEN to work. (You should read about the fight John Saxon had with the public school system!!!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6aJreXyV0Q

Government wants illiterates—people who use emotions to decide everything—so they are easily led—they have no understanding of real anything so fall for what the proper “authorities” say-—like the Prussian schools condition them to do.

Now, with the internet—the methodologies that worked, still exist and are at the fingertip of ALL parents—the true teachers. I even own a set of the McGuffey Readers.

Remember-—people like Lincoln had no “teachers” -—he was self-taught—learning to read on the Bible——with his mother, who was uneducated, but knew how to barely read.

Classical Books still exist —I have even used the homeschool Latin courses-—they are excellent.

The elementary school my wife taught in 17 years ago ădopted Saxon Math and immediately began to see spectacular results. Two years later it was thrown out because some of the teachers thought Saxon Math rendered them redundant, that a teacher's aide of someone off the street could teach it. It was replaced with a system that cannot be learned from the text books but must have constant input from the teachers. It's a union thing.

The schools use BF Skinner methodology.... (BK Eakman;Iserbyt/ Gatto)

...to make children dependent on an authority figure. It is the design of the Prussian schools.

They are trying to force out all independence-—that “individuality” which is anathema to collectivists.

The peers—same age-—is used to demoralize and hold back the smartest student—and humiliate the ones who “think outside the box”. Immaturity of children always makes fun and ridicule people who aren’t one of the “group” unless they are constantly redirected by moral parents or teachers. Large classrooms are impossible to control the laughter of children which is very cruel to others——and forces a conformity—so they “fit in”.

Children are being forced to think homosexuality is natural-—because of all the books and Glee-type programming—Books like Heather has two mommies—and the homosexual groups who are allowed to come into the classroom and explain how “hurtful” it is to homosexuals not to be treated “equally”.

It is all to brainwash and condition children in their formative years into the “New Normal” which is an elimination of Christian Ethics-—the schools have allowed a Satanic religion to teach children what is normal and Right......(unconstitutional).

Our children are being taught Afghani ethics-—where sodomy is the norm. Our culture will end up like all homosexual cultures when little kids see men marry and kiss, etc., which is a culture which hates women and reduces them to breeder where little kids are objects to be used and sold or whatever.

ALl homosexual cultures sodomize children—and it is their recreation-—and training ground for the future homosexuals. It is a learned behavior and learned Worldview-—like the Afghanis have=-—and the Samurai and all the Ancient civilizations and the Nazi Brownshirts.

Public education is child abuse. Parents who allow their kids to attend public schools are ipso facto child abusers- no excuses.
